Also, id settle for mediocre on ST if we make big plays when needed. Be solid with it more than anything. Big returns here and there, plus, let's block some of other teams attempts. Not all the time, pick spots with it. Big momentum plays, even a ****ing extra point try at times. Say the game is close and we've blocked one, they'll be chasing that point. Got a split for the most part. Hope Nik is right on Oliver, that would be huge.

Special teams is a lot more than just the punter and kicker. It's also about execution and the talent (speed) you put on the field. We will be putting better athletes out there. It's also about emphasis. You get better at things you emphasize. It sounds like Mac has decided to put more emphasis on it. But about the kicker and punter: We will see.

Oliver was fun to watch last year as a punt returner, if he can play in a similar fashion that'd certainly fall in the "good" category.

The kicking and punting can't be worse. Even mediocre play there would be a huge step up.

I don't remember the coverage teams being too bad, but I guess they could always improve.

We'll see what Els can do.

Oliver will not be returning punts this year.

Is this inside info? Because they just said he will be returning punts this year.
I guess I should have read the article. The talk this summer from what I heard from a couple people that he and the team did not want him to get hurt doing punt returns with a KD Nixon or someone like that coming in. The thought was they were going to take over the duties. This obviously has changed during camp, so that either means that Oliver really really wants to return punts now, or the other options did not impress.

Maybe more importantly he spoke in his presser about Kinney getting his technique fixed and consistent. Last season he showed a big leg but when he took the snap you never knew what you were going to get out of it.

I'm looking forward to see Nixon return punts. I don't think this coaching staff can keep him off the field.
He reminds of a rich man version of Marcus stiggers

Stiggers huh, I can live with that. Give O the rest he needs. Returning punts is not an easy job.

Through 2 games, are ST better, worse or about what you expected?

I'd say better. Idk about the return games, they kept saying Oliver dances around too much on PR. How true that is, hell idk, I'd have to see it first. I'd say solid for now.

SO much better

Kinney has been great (24th in the nation, 4th in Pac 12 with a 45 yard average)

Stefanau definitely has a big leg and is 90% accuracy through two games

I think every kickoff has been a touchback and I can't think of a KR opportunity yet.

PR has been fine, and we did score a ST TD yesterday.

Don't know how anybody can give them less than an A grade through the first two games.

I didn't see the big leg out of the Australian but man that ball has a ton of upward pop.
