Also gives me less inclination to give macintyre a huge pass because brohm had purdue competitive from year 1. We gave macintyre a mega leash after two unsuccessful coaches. By and large, macintyre hasn’t put CU on the trajectory that even purdue is on...
Elite coaches all come from somewhere less-than-elite and context needs to be applied. Are you arguing that the job Brohm has done at Purdue is underwhelming because of his record? Your guy, Greg Schiano, was 68-67 at Rutgers...

That’s wonderful. If there are multiple also-ran programs with bigger name coaches than your program, you probably have the wrong coach.

How many Pac-12 programs would trade their HC for Brohm right now? I think the answer is probably 2 and 1 of those (USC) would be disappointed that’s the best they could do.

Curiously, you seem to be arguing head coaching records have no context.
Purdue looked like a national champion with Hazell compared to the train wreck we were. Some folks thought CU under Embree was one of the worst D1 teams of all time.

I didn’t say anything about Petrino. You said Louisville would want a bigger name than MacIntyre (someone like Brohm), which I agree with. All I’m saying is that doesn’t say much for our coach if Brohm - a guy with only 2 years at Purdue is a bigger name than Mac. It’s depressing.
Right now, I think CU, Zona, ASU, Oregon State, and SC (although SC has stupid hiring practices for their HC) and maybe UCLA would all rather have Brohm if truly given the chance. If Leach leaves, you think Wazzu wouldn’t be thrilled for him? Brohm is going to be a big time candidate, arguably HC1 or HC2 this offseason.
You are underestimating Brohm's rep at the national level.

Brohm is a hot name, but if he’s a bigger “get” for a program looking for a coach than Mac after 6 years then Mac is probably the wrong guy.
And I ultimately agree with what you’re saying, I just disagree with downplaying Brohm in making the point.
Huh? Hazell was horrible at purdue. Embo coached for two fewer full seasons than Hazell and had the same number of conference wins (3). We are emotionally closer to how bad we were during that time so we overestimate how bad we were relative to the world. Purdue was in miserable shape and brohm has done a really nice job. He made purdue competitive from year one.
CU was in far worse shape than Purdue or any other program at its lowest ebb. If you can’t acknowledge that, you haven’t been paying attention or are utterly clueless.

So far you’ve only exclaimed “what people said” as opposed to facts: in two fewer seasons and without the chance to play any full classes he recruited, Embo had the same number of conference wins as Hazell. They had similar win % (20% Embo and 27% Hazell).
I’ve never said that Embo was great. He was terrible. To say Purdue was somehow night and day better is silly. They were not. Macintyre has moved the program in some intangible ways. Overall, I’d say he has not been a success, especially given what matters most: wins and losses.

To be honest, though, that's kind of a special situation with Brohm and Louisville. He's kind of royalty there. His dad played QB there and was a HS Coach in Louisville. Brohm was a star prep in town, was a star at Louisville, coached there, coached the Louisville arena team, etc. Brohm will be the HC at Louisville this year or in the future as long as he doesn't screw up and make it so they can't hire him.
When we were ranked 109th in offense AND defense under Embree in 2012, Purdue would have easily won by 21. I don't know how old you are or how closely you really follow the Buffs, but maybe you need to take a look at the Fresno tape for a reminder of how truly awful we were.
I’ve been a buffs fan for 35 years. I’ve followed them very closely for at least the last 25.
You keep on repeating that embo’s teams were bad. This is not an argument. Everyone knows the teams were bad. You’ve yet to make a comparative argument about why, somehow, a team that performed at an (at least) equally lackluster level is somehow leaps and bounds better.
Overcome these facts:
Embo. 3 conference wins in 2 seasons.
Hazell. 3 conference wins in 4 seasons.
Embo. 20% win rate with mostly Hawkins recruits.
Hazell. 27% win rate including players he mostly recruited in years 3 & 4.
Your emotional closeness to the disappointment of the embo years is clouding your objectivity. Your repeated inability to make a fact based argument proves this.

There’s nothing to grasp. You haven’t made any arguments to prove your point. That’s the premise of my last posting. It seems like you have difficulty grasping how to make comparisons in the face of facts to the contrary of your assertions.

They were equally bad. There’s a case that Purdue was worse.
Brohm went in and made a horrible team in purdue competitive and bowl eligible in year one.
Macintyre has made CU bowl eligible in one season out of six.
The facts back up what I’m saying. You just keep throwing a tantrum.
Dude, I’m extremely calm and I stand by my assertion that the Buffs under Embree could have been the worst in the modern history of D1 and MM had to pick up the pieces. I don’t care what Purdue’s winning percentage was, you will never change my mind. Let’s move on.
