Matt Lubick getting fired from UW due to a lack of production and then getting a bank job in FoCo so he's ready to take over the football coach when Bobo goes down is peak CSU.
For sure. Bobo's coaching this year with Lubick looking over his shoulder. That's a completely made up job he left UW for.
That should be very interesting.I have a grad class with the USC Associate AD tonight. I'm interested to hear his thoughts on the KK situation.
Seems more like something Smart/UGA fans aren't crying over. I wonder if Johnson and Summers would've been promoted on staff there had we not hired them.

Just saw this graphic on ESPN on the Kingsbury hiring:
The Old College Try
Kliff Kingsbury will join a select group of coaches who jumped to NFL head coach after spending the previous year as a college coach:
Not alot of success on that chart, maybe 3 successful coaches (Carroll, Harbaugh, O'Brien). Erickson should be on there twice (Miami to Seattle in 1995)[TBODY] [/TBODY]

That’s not a complete list. Jimmy Johnson isn’t on it either.
Here’s the deal. The things that go into a college W-L record are not necessarily things that apply directly to a pro HC gig, especially in the new NFL. (h/t Woelken)Just saw this graphic on ESPN on the Kingsbury hiring:

Arizona Cardinals hiring a college coach who under performed in the Big 12 is a head-scratcher.
Maybe he is confused between the NFL and European Futbol and he thinks they can just buy Mahomes from the Queefs?I'm pretty sure they think he can get Mahomes to switch his commitment from KC.
Will they lose recent offensive commitments? I think the answer is yes to both, that they are related, and Swann eats a bag of dicks in the process.

Should have just hired gase as your OC
The GM has just as much to lose. He's focusing on bringing in a good OC to develop Darnold, not letting Rhule bring his friends. If this HC situation doesn't work out, the GM will lose his job too because he's on HC #2.Rhule wanted to pick his own staff and their GM said no. What is it with these GMs thinking they need to choose more than just the Head Coach?
The GM's job is to focus on personnel and hire the Head Coach. He should not be picking and choosing the Head Coach's staff, regardless of what he has to lose. If you are hiring a guy to be your HC, but don't trust him to bring in the guys he needs to be successful, then why are you hiring him in the first place? It's a dysfunctional model and it's part of why the Jets will stay awful and why the Broncos have been so bad.The GM has just as much to lose. He's focusing on bringing in a good OC to develop Darnold, not letting Rhule bring his friends. If this HC situation doesn't work out, the GM will lose his job too because he's on HC #2.
Yes. Chasing success has been flawed in most all CFB => NFL moves. My premise is that they were using the wrong metrics about who would and would not succeed in this transition. NFL execs are now using different metrics.Obviously.
So maybe Arizona is trying to do the reverse and instead of taking a very successful college coach they are taking a mediocre college coach. Maybe if Kingsbury was too good of a college coach he would not be "NFL ready".
Who knows. My point was that chasing "success" from college to the NFL has proven to be a very unsuccessful model in the last 19 years with only 3 out of 11 considered positive. Not sure what the stats are on hiring NFL coordinators into NFL jobs but it seems that would be a better path.
They're called "The McVay Metrics".Yes. Chasing success has been flawed in most all CFB => NFL moves. My premise is that they were using the wrong metrics about who would and would not succeed in this transition. NFL execs are now using different metrics.
Dig deeper. This dynamic is very interesting and will have an impact on CFB in the near future. They're called "The McVay Metrics".
