2023-24 Coaching Carousel (Fitzgerald out, DC Braun interim at Northwestern)

Sounds like Elko and Elijah Robinson are the next two leaders in the clubhouse. Elijah Robinson would be… something
Elko always made sense because it's pretty common to target a former coordinator who left to become a HC.

Robinson I had to look up and I guess the players are petitioning for him, so there's some pressure to not lose more talent they've invested in. But I don't know. It's not like they beat LSU yesterday.

Third straight losing season.

UF has jumped us in rankings. I wonder if theyre entering that era CU went thru starting in the early 2000s where they have high academic goals and a clean nose? If so, they’ll produce a lot of super smart alums with high academic standards and probably not as much good football. We’ll see.

Players always want a guy they are familiar with and like (see some Colorado players petitioning for Mike Sanford) so it’s no surprise, but players are also stupid.

However, I am here for aTm firing Jimbo and paying that buyout only to turn around and hire a member of his staff and a relatively unknown guy.

Except it's also a rule that levels the playing field so that those programs that who happen to be members of a conference with a great media deal aren't able to acquire talent CU can't afford.

This setup is favorable for us.
Agreed, but I think most programs/ADs would have a limit they’d be willing to spend, meaning the massive TV deals would only go so far. Just like HC contracts. Sure, SEC and B1G programs could spend $20 or $30m/year on a coach, but they won’t.

I think the revenue Prime has brought and will continue to bring to the AD would put us closer to those programs than our new conference peers in terms of competing for recruits.

The wild card is whether Prime is able to leverage his wealthy contacts to help put us on an SEC level for the collectives over the next year or two. As Les said in another thread, the grassroots efforts of the middle class die hard fans is nice to get people involved, but competing for the playoffs is going to mean a few whales getting involved.

Prime has spent time with Saban on his coaching rehab structure and the pickings are looking good if he wants to jump on it and gobble up some seriously smart coaches
