Just saw a replay. The ref was doing his job. Don’t take that as me defending the ref for anything else. But Tad was obviously pissed at the other ref and needed to be restrained. And good for him.

With the courage and quality that Hammond and O'Brien played with, along with (and this hurts to say) decent play by LL, I have not been more proud of the Buffs and I really hope they get some run in the NIT.

I think it's a simple human nature thing. These refs want the 'best' team from their league to advance. A lot cooler to ref in the league that produced the NC, then in the MAC. ucla and az have always been the best teams, and the league (and refs) want them to get max glory. Likely not a conscious thing, but 31 versus 11 attempts doesn't reflect the reality of this game at all.

It's just amazing how UCLA is able to cleanly reach in while avoiding contact, even body contact. It's also amazing how on the other end they're able to protect the ball and angle their bodies just right to draw foul calls. And most amazing is that the officials are so great that they're able to recognize this subtle difference in real time and put UCLA on the FT line 3 times as much as Colorado. We were truly blessed to witness greatness from that officiating crew yesterday while UCLA schooled us on how to play within the rules.Tad quote:

We are still the +1 at the ball in the PAC12, so no need to stay with refs like last night.
Even Jacquez last drive was a foul on him with an arm clear out of Wright, or even just a no-call from the crap ass ref would save face
It always strikes me in the NBA when there is a huge discrepancy in free throws in a first half, by the ends of games it all evens out. In the NCAA, and I have zero proof, there seem to be a lot more games with big FT discrepancies for an entire game. And, obviously, some of that is due to “intentional” fouls at the ends of games.
When a team is attacking the rim more, it should go to the line more. When a team is going for more blocks & steals, it should get called for more fouls (and vice versa).
Putting those 2 things together (Tadball concepts of attacking the glass & playing position defense), CU generally gets to the line more than its opponents.
You're going to get fewer 50/50 calls on the road. You're going to get the benefit more often if you're a veteran player with whom the refs are familiar. That's life in basketball. It doesn't explain yesterday. Neutral game & TDS didn't get his share of calls.
What happened yesterday was egregious.
And a team that creates a lot of turnovers by slapping at the ball should receive a fair amount of foul calls.

I hate the rule that coaches and players can't criticize refs post-game or they get fined. What kind of snowflake bull**** is that? It's not like the refs are volunteers. And coaches will be careful what they say, knowing they'll have that same crew again someday. But what's the real harm in letting a coach air his grievances? This is the fundamental flaw with the game of basketball. Of all the major sports, it’s the one that is most easily manipulated by officiating.
Truthfully, Tad needs to take a breath then sit down and review the tape. Then, if he has a case, document it and send it to the head of officiating. That probably won’t accomplish much other than maybe giving the officials a poor grade.
As fans we’d love to be appeased by an admission from the league that the officials failed. But that will never, ever, ever happen. And you can be assured that officials have long memories so be careful what you wish for.
The “game” is to put something into the officials heads that will favor your team the next time those guys officiate one of your games and to not piss them off.

I heard him on one broadcast talking about how he thought the PAC-12 would stay together, so I don’t think his thoughts are completely rational on the subject.
