2024 Regent Candidates

If you are a Colorado registered voter, you should be getting your primary ballot in the mail this week. There are no R races, but a couple on the D side. If you are a registered D or I, you can vote in the at-large CU Regent race including CJ.

Just filling out my ballot - there's no write-in option for the Regent office

Who's our guy?

I gotta go with the Dem, Elliott Hood. I just can't bring myself to vote for another Republican, for any office, until they purge their weirdo-fascist elements. The last R regent was Heidi ****ing Ganahl.

Reminder. In 2018, a lot of us posted that we voted straight D, and then learned one of the Democratic regents was an Anti-Sports nut case.

No idea about this year's, but I'll be cautious to take a slightly more careful approach this year.

I don't worry about Party in the Regents races. The issues they manage are not government issues. It's a completely different platform.

For example, VanDriel is a massive upgrade as the Boulder Regent from the recent Dems who have held that seat.

On the issue closest to AB's heart:

As part of this emphasis on excellence, we must recognize the importance of CU Athletics on behalf of the people of Colorado and treat it accordingly. This means we need to both provide our marquee athletic programs with the support they need to compete at the highest levels, while we also expect consistently excellent results from these programs. It also means that we need to support our student athletes appropriately during their time at CU and make them want to be Buffs for life.

I should have posted in here earlier, but I noticed that Elliot Hood, the Democrat in the at large race, at least addressed athletics on his website, even though it was the last item he noted. The Republican really doesn’t say much except that he opposes limits on free speech, which is a noble goal, but usually those guys end up being useless in every other sense.

Trying to figure out my vote for District 5.

Axel Brown (D)
Incumbent Ken Montera (R)

Axel Brown had this to say on his website: I, like many UCCS students, have often felt underrepresented by the CU Board of Regents. They frequently celebrate CU Boulder and its sports teams or students, but when it comes to UCCS, it always appears as though our students and accomplishments are simply an afterthought. I’m running for regent to change that narrative and bring our students, teams, and our amazing mascot, Clyde, into the mainstream.

Although I like his platform, that one sentence is bugging me.

Ken Montera has a picture of himself with Prime on his website.

Do I actually go for the R in this race?
