2025 Big 12 Football (News, Notes, Hate)

Arizona State getting a lot of preseason run, and if you look at their AWAY game schedule this season, there is a strong chance they could lose every one of them

at MISSISSIPPI STATE
at BAYLOR
at UTAH
at IOWA STATE
at COLORADO

and then Home Games against Texas Tech and TCU

I think ASU goes back to 7-5

Kansas State lost today. That's good, right?

Yeah but Iowa State won and that’s not very good

Avery Johnson and Rocco Becht both looked good at moments, but pretty meh overall.

I'm interested to see this K-State offense against a P4 defense that isn't Matt Campbell's 3-3-5, somewhat surprised that most of their output was basically a broken coverage on the 3rd TD, and the hard bite on the double move on the 2nd TD. It seemed like they were on the edge of getting the running game going, at a couple points and controlling the LOS. Then again, I feel like that's what most opponents look like against Campbell's Cyclones, without ever actually breaking through.

The broadcast kept saying the teams playing in Ireland the past few years have all struggled through in the rest of their season. Maybe there's something to that, playing what's basically a big bowl game to open the season has to be a bit of a nightmare when trying to keep 100+ 18 to 24 year olds from blowing their wad early.

Speaking of which - Baylor v Auburn. What’s the collective thinking here?

Seems like a coin flip, going to help gauge if the Big12 is still competitive with the middle of the SEC. Rooting for Baylor of course, but not sure at all on the matchups. Auburn favored -2.5 at Baylor, so sharps believe in Auburn on the road. Is Auburn returning their QB? That favors Baylor cause Sawyer was playing great to end last season.

Auburn has Jackson Arnold at QB this year. Very tough opener for Auburn and there's pressure on Freeze to take a step up this year. They do have a very good group of WR's. Baylor is one of the favorites and I think they win this one.

After the top tier of 3-4 games this is one of the more interesting games next weekend. Unfortunately it kicks off the same time as ours.

They just lost their 1b running back for the year.

I know it’s not the right thread, but while we’re talking about it..

Several B-12 games this weekend it interesting and can shake things up:

1. Fuskers @ Cinci, upset and the B1G will be pants on fire. I still do not think Nubs have enough playmakers, this could be a pick-em.
2. UCF v. Jacksonville State--JSU won 9 of 10 to end the regular season. New coach, but ruining Frosty's debut would be excellent.
3. Auburn @ Bailer--this one could be close, always tough to start out on the road.
4. CU v. Ga Tech. I expect CU to win.
5. ISU will be a heavy favorite against South Dakota, but they went 11-3 last year. ISU is battle tested, but CU had early fits against NDSU, so if they let their guard down, this game may be closer.
6. ASU v. Northern Arizona--it seems like NAU is good for an upset every five years or so.
7. Hawaii v. Arizona. Hawaii might be riding high with nothing to lose in Tucson. UoA is the weakest B-12 team IMO.
8. Utah @ UCLA. UCLA added a decent transfer class, right about where CU landed. Utah added some but not nearly as much. Dampier v. Nico will be interesting debuts. This game may give a good indication of Utah's direction.
9. TCU @ North Carolina. BB's debut. TCU is a 3 point favorite on the road.

Any time an SEC or Big Ten team loses a non-conference game, it helps CU and the Big 12 when the national pundits try to compare conference strength. This is even more of a factor when an SEC or Big Ten team plays a Big 12 team. So it really would be a good thing if Baylor beats Auburn.

Fine most of the time. But not with Baylor. **** Baylor

You make a marginally compelling argument. However, on the other side, **** bailer. With a rusty fork.

The must have flown to Miami and then gotten into this fight

I think those guys were very over-served, probably Bud drinkers and could not handle the stronger Irish Pints and Car-Bombs. They missed the corned beef, eggs and hash breakfast. Instead, they drank through the night. What an embarrassment and "we coming in hot!" It was not even a good fight, as no haymakers were landed. I would not want to be AJ facing taunts during road games due to your dad and uncle's antics. It was not like AJ played a terrible game, he almost brought them back. Those guys would have been given lifetime suspensions from Madison Square Garden!! AJ will probably stay in Manhattan KS for XMAS too!
