2025 Big 12 Football (News, Notes, Hate)

not for betting purposes on my account, but I'm a little bummed I just saw that Red Polyester Horde @ Cincy means Arrowhead and not a true home game for Cincy.

Dang it, I think Satterfield kinda sucks but I do like Cincy's freaky old school/new school stadium. I liked the Bearcats to do the virtuous thing better at home than at in KC.

That will be a Nebraska home game. Like 80/20. Nebraska will likely slap Cincy, but the good news is it will give the entire program a false sense of hope before reality kicks them in the nuts.

No matter what the ACC is viewed in a better light because the top end of their conference is better than the top of the Big 12, but the middle and bottom of the ACC is trash compared to the middle and bottom of the Big 12.

ACC has a lot higher population density which means more fannies on the sofa in front of screens.....which means ad $$$. a 5-1 Syracuse or Miami team is non stop on ESPN. and Clemson had rings and were getting pumped up on the ISU-KSU game.

that said, the Big XII has been amazingly hard to kill, given all the prevailing logics working against it.

Yea the crowd will be mostly Nebraska fans for sure. The Omaha/Lincoln area is only about 3 hours from KC while Cincinnati is almost 9 hours from KC

I'm glad to see the ACC and B-12 playing each other. It is good to see the SEC going to a 9 game schedule, and the ACC will probably follow suit.

I was pursuing the OOC schedules, and found 3 interesting things: (1) the SEC plays harder OOC games they have 20 compelling OOC games, they take a sort of we are not afraid to play anyone anywhere approach--thus good match-ups for fan enjoyment; (2) for the B1G, Texas v. Ohio State is gold, but thereafter only another 6 decent games. Props to UCLA for playing Utah and UNLV in back to back weeks, IMO they have the toughest OCC schedule in B1G and play 2 decent games; (3) the B1G goes out of it's way to schedule dog OCCs to protect certain teams: IN, MD, Penn St, Rutgers and WA are complete jokes. Minnesota v. Cal; MI State v. Boston college, do those really count? We all know how top-heavy the B1G is, but stiffing the fans with mostly lousy OCC games is just not cool. In some cases, they have teams fly across the country for the payday, in others you just play the Western/Eastern team and hardly travel. I take the SEC's side in the 5 + 11, since the scheduling is nowhere close even with 8 game in conference schedule. Some of these B1G teams will never get beat up...

@The Alabaster Yak--I think the ACC gets a leg up because they play so many good OOC games against the SEC, ND and other compelling match-ups against the P-4 or top G-5. They kept many of their rivalries alive. Hopefully, the B12 gets into more of these games. If the B1G keeps their OOC charade up, the SEC, ACC and ND should just schedule equally with the B12.

Syracuse doesn't move the needle for anyone, even if they are good. The top 4-5 ACC programs are bigger brands and get better ratings than the top 4-5 of the Big 12, besides this Prime-led Colorado program.

If the ACC and Big 12 could merge while dropping, Syracuse, BC, Wake Forest, Cincinatti, Houston (and maybe Iowa State, Stanford and Cal), it would be a pretty solid conference top to bottom.

I think Syracuse doesn't actually move the needle for anyone real because they are never good. but half the dudes on ESPN went there.

Having a legit national title contender going into the season certainly helps. The ACC also has 5 games against ranked teams this weekend including 3 against the top 10, so they certainly have the opportunity to raise their profile in a big way. However I think they go 2-3 in those games at best and more likely 1-4.

The ACC's top blue-blood teams just play a bunch of great games against tough opponents. Clemson gets a break playing Troy and Furman, but they more than make up with LSU and @South Carolina. Florida State has Alabama, Florida and Miami (in conference). Miami has ND, Florida (OOC) and FSU (in conference). Those are the three that I really think of in the ACC, w/ ND as a pseudo member.

CUSE, who I thought was a flash in the pan plays Tenn and ND. SMU arguably gets a break playing TCU and Bailer, but they just joined the conference and made the playoff, so I would not expect them to be high on an OOC team's list. Duke plays ILL and @Tulane. I would not want to be Stanford as they may not win a game.

I hope with all the conferences going to 9 games, the ACC and SEC continuing doing what they are doing with another true P-4 game or top-5 G5. Then the other P-4 conferences follow suit. I think the B1G's overall scheduling is simply pathetic compared to the rest of the P-4.

For SMU, I’m not sure I’d call playing TCU or Baylor a “break”
