2025 Season Expectations

Salter is better, more experienced and proven much more than Dampier and yet the media chodes around the country think Dampier will turn that sh!tshow in SLC into a playoff contender. Make it make sense.

I am confused by that as well. My guess is when they evaluate Dampier, they added OL into consideration.

Utah's OL is pretty good.

Yea their OL is widely considered to be the best in the conference and Dampier's OC from UNM also went to Utah. But Dampier isn't a great passer and how Salter is being completely disregarded nationally is baffling. Every time CU comes up all they mention is losing Shedeur and Travis including our top 4 receivers overall, as well as Green and NHG on defense

If Salter transferred literally anywhere else, he’d be getting dark horse heisman type consideration. It’s purely disdain for Prime driving the lack of discussion about him.

Imo, the players' attitudes, motivations, needs to win, are the key. We've got enough talent.

I know it was a bowl, but BYU's players were on fire, they wanted to destroy us. The Buffs lacked that desire, and as SS said a couple of days before the game, the Buffs were spending to much time sightseeing and similar.

I worry that our ex-pro coaches may not know how to motivate. They can teach and coach, but instilling individual and team attitudes involves different skills.

A few days back, CP got on the team about a ****ty practice and told them how social media would turn on them if they played that way in a game. Ugh. Please forget social media and turn these guys into hungry animals.

"In the video posted on Saturday from Boulder, Deion Sanders said, “If you perform like you performed in that scrimmage, they (social media people) going to eat you alive.”He added, “Disconnect your social media,” telling the players that online fans will not help them when real games begin."

I watched a lot of UNM last year. Dampier is fun to watch, but part of the reason is that he also has a lot of negative plays.

Also, BYU was a better team and better coached than the Buffs last year.

I think Dampier fits what Utah wants to do and Salter fits what CU wants to do
If the idea is to get back to running more and throwing less, he could be interesting. But the new OC hire says they're going to be in a lot of spread to open up the offense.

Put up big numbers against some pretty sh!t defenses. Mouthy Mike and his cadre of imbeciles up in Ft. Fun put the clamps on Dampier last year. That tells me a lot.

I guess we’ll see. They have two first round tackles and very capable lineman on the interior. I think they will run and run some more

These ratings aren't quite as meaningful as they used to be with the transfer portal, but this gives a general idea to how CU stacks up from a roster talent perspective.

I remember seeing a graphic like that on CFP contenders the year TCU went on the improbable run before getting destroyed by Georgia. I think it was something like the rule of thumb being you need to have 50+ blue chips on your roster to be a contender. We're now at 22.

Yeah, they crunch the numbers in the article but almost all national championship winners/contenders rank in the top 10 of this list historically.

Looking like every game is going to be a challenge and don't see being favored in any more. Still have no offense or defense identity. Still unable to force a 1 or two yard gain when needed. No faith in the play calling and now a QB controversy. Maybe all the gold jackets struggle teaching what comes natural?
Looking more like a bowlless season unless some **** gets cleaned up.

Easily favored over Wyoming.

Long way until Arizona, West Virginia, and K-State, but if they were tomorrow we're favored.

Possibly Arizona State by that time.

But, yeah, the next 4 conference games, we'll be underdogs.

They very easily can be 3-1 after the next two weeks. The great news is QB depth won't be an issue this season if someone gets hurt. I could also see a package where the QB's continue to rotate. Salter isn't as bad as most people are making it out to be. He led the team to scoring drives to go up 10-0.

My biggest positive from the Delaware game is the that we definitely have a RB who is a threat when he catches the ball and that score from the middle of the field was outstanding. My biggest negative from the game is something that I was concerned about... The losses to that stud DL last year are more impactful than most here would agree to admit. Kid from Alabama is not showing as an NFL grade talent on the DL and that sucks because we needed that badly.

I also liked that on 4th and 2 we ran it up the gut and got a first down. Sure it was against Delaware. But I don’t think we could have done that past couple seasons.

Mat Smith had talked about this team not being ready for conference play-Somewhat fair? I mean I'd be worried if we had to play BYU next week. We don't, though. Houston hasn't done anything that scares the hell out of me through 2 weeks. Barely beat Stephen F. Austin or whatever FCS team they played last week, and let Rice hang around into the second half yesterday.
