22-23 Transfer Portal and General Recruiting Catch-All Thread

I would be surprised if any of these guys stay. We’re at 19 open spots. If this group leaves it’s 25.

Would be ideal to have a cutoff day (aka, today) where this is wrapped up.

How much of what we saw on Saturday was Prime showcasing a few guys like Venn, MLC and Sami to help them find a landing spot? I can’t imagine that A) these transfers were any kind of surprise, and B) the fact that these three in particular had such prominent roles in the Spring Game was a coincidence.

He reminds me of a smaller, less athletic Malachi Wideman. Wideman was 6'4, 215, with a 40+ vertical at JSU. 4 star in hoops and football. Wideman had 12 TDs year one at JSU but Coach Brett came in and he barely saw the field. Coach Brett like his WRs with high football IQ. He knows exactly the type of WRs he wants
Sorry, no reply to this. My kid got a hold of my phone and apparently he can spell a word with the help of autocorrect. He can’t even talk yet. 😂

The Venn transfer is a bit of a surprise to me. I honestly thought he was one of the guys who would stick. No idea why I thought that. Feels like he’s a guy who just needs to be given a chance to succeed. I hope he gets it. Sorry he won’t get it here.
As someone else said, we recruited a better version of him in Edwards. Edwards, Hankerson, and Smoke all have different games, plus Victor would be looking at 4th on the depth chart.

I could see Wiley and Gustav staying. The other 4 were guys I thought would be gone already.

There was a time when Marcus Houston was our 4th string tailback. Having 4 guys who can all give you 15-20 carries a game is a serious advantage. I mean, I get it - he probably wasn’t going to be a starter here- but he could have been a significant contributor and I’m sorry to see him go.

Might be guys who know their offers will be limited.
Honestly...Wiley has shockingly good game film to show against Kayvon Thibodeaux. As far as I can remember, Wiley basically neutralized him most of that game.

Easily the best game Wiley has played for us.

This surprises me the most because last year, Deion cut about 7 guys they signed in the fall. So for Beasley to be his only release of the new guys is impressive recruiting.

I like Beasley but I did notice he was 2nd string when the depth was already bad. Not everyone can play at this level and maybe they made a mistake bringing Beasley over. He was the same tier as Herman Smith and he ended up at Idaho St. Maybe they jumped the gun on him as he might be a worker and a dawg but this level is a lot higher. You gotta guard NFL caliber receivers on this level.

Wiley is the only guy I’ve ever seen Adam call out in a post game. I believe it was after the Cal game two years ago (how do I remember this stuff…). He does seem to have a great work ethic though and has always publicly stated wants to get better.
