Flood gates opening hopefully.
Reading the tweets that lead to the article, it sounds like those quotes were taken out of context. While I fully hope that is what will happen, I wouldn't take that source as any sort of confirmation.
Couldn’t disagree more. This is big business and big money. He should absolutely cut every player he thinks can’t contribute.Prime won’t just cut guys who committed to play here. At least I hope not. Some will see the writing in the wall and transfer. But I’d imagine there are guys who love the school or just don’t feel they have other options who will stick it out and that’s okay. There will be a place for them but they are going to have to be willing to work their asses off with no guarantee they will ever see the field.
I agree, mostly. It's a very different world now. I think there is something to be said for honoring a player's scholarship to a school as offered. That does not guarantee a spot on the team itself. I admit I don't know how those two things interact. Be interested to hear. It's one thing if a player gets kicked off a team for conduct issues. That would--likely--negate the terms of the scholarship.Couldn’t disagree more. This is big business and big money. He should absolutely cut every player he thinks can’t contribute.
What is this "5 star" stuff. I heard they exist but don't remember seeing one in a buffs uniform.
Unfinished business. He will be playing in Atlanta then he will enter the portal with the others after the game.
Yes and no. It's a business and you got talent and play at a high level, you can find another home. A lot of these coaches still remember you as a HS recruit. Maybe this is your chance to go to the level you should have been on from the beginningI agree, mostly. It's a very different world now. I think he got hurt this year. Wonder how bad it was. If he will be okay, we need LB help.Isn't Justin Flowe one of Oregon's best defensive players?
I'm sure prime will wade through the weeds and find that talent AND desire to win that is left in the current CU locker room. Then the rest will be dismissed.Yes and no. That said, being cut sucks. I understand and can relate but I said, wherever Deion goes, at least 20 guys won't make it.
Okay. Fine. But these kids may have chosen CU over other options. If they get cut they likely will not have options anymore. So you say “too bad. Screw ‘em.” Some of these kids are well along toward a CU degree and rely on their scholarship to complete their degree but you say, “too bad. Screw ‘em.” Nice.Couldn’t disagree more. Life in the big leagues, DBT. People want a competitive and nationally relevant CFB team but they don't want to see how it's made.Okay. Fine. But these kids may have chosen CU over other options. This isn't an everybody gets a ribbon program those are reserved for club teams, slow pitch softball and that great movie called the Sandlot. How many millions have been poured in to the training facilities alone.Okay. Fine. But these kids may have chosen CU over other options. If they get cut they likely will not have options anymore. Yep. We certainly weren’t losing while flooding the field with an abundance of P5 talent for the past few years.Yes and no. Too soon. Still.Any truth that he's bringing Katie Hnida in as special teams coach?
I am fully on board with giving players the opportunity to graduate, but I think this is a this is a downside of the portal. Kids have no obligation to stay at a school after signing an LOI. Players want the guarantee of a 5 year scholarship while also having the freedom to transfer at any point. Schools invest a lot in player and lose it when they transfer.Okay. Fine. Colorado knows this better than anyone. Any player that other P5s want have left Colorado over the past 3 years.I am fully on board with giving players the opportunity to graduate, but I think this is a this is a downside of the portal. On this bright day of CUFB, there is no reason to take us back to the dark days of Bitsy and Byyny, who started the downward spiral, is there?Any truth that he's bringing Katie Hnida in as special teams coach?
I agree that it sucks, but let’s also be blunt - this is a 1-11 team. They probably shouldn’t be here in the first place. You can’t go 1-11 and then expect to have everything remain the same.Okay. He could cut them as well. I posted an article on how Lincoln Riley cut guys and had them enter the portal. Riley ended up with 26 transfers and that doesn't include the recruits who signed with USC out of HS.He won't actually cut them. They'll "Medically Retire". That'll free up the scholly and the roster spot and allow the student to finish school. And, it still counts as a graduating athlete for APR purposes.
Ban?Any truth that he's bringing Katie Hnida in as special teams coach?
Listen, I’m fine with Prime telling them like it is and giving them the choice. But taking a kid’s scholarship isn’t a cool move. And I think Prime will not just cut guys unless there is some ulterior reason.Life in the big leagues, DBT.
