24-25 Coaching Carousel

Feels like we need to get this going with Tony Bennett stepping down. This one was a little personal for me. In 2006, I was still trying to find a way to play college ball, and Craig Rasmuson (Tad's predecessor at UNC) and the coach who had given me an opportunity, got fired. A friend of my family was on Wisconsin's 2000 Final Four team (Dick Bennett was the coach of that team), and he reached out to Dick about me. That led to me going up there. Tony was an unreal human-talked about life with the guy for a solid 20 minutes. Same guy you saw handle being the first coach of a #1 seed to lose a first round game in the mens NCAA tournament with an incredible amount of class.

Watched what he said today-and while I think the timing of him stepping away is weird........he was on point with what he said about the state of college athletics. He's a guy I really hope pulls a Saban and takes a media gig. College athletics needs him involved in my view.

Uhhhhhh……

This is the basketball sub-board, not the football one......
My bad. I didn’t even read your post before replying. I just saw this right above the football carousel thread in the New Posts view. 😂

You're good. Bennett retiring I thought warranted starting this thread.
A likely excuse

Crazy they let him coach and that the entire crowd cheered, everyone supported him. Treating him like the victims. The SEC fans, administrations, and schools morals are so wild.

Well, that's now the expected behavior of men in power. I'm sure the outpouring of support for this predator is creating a great vibe for the females on campus.

Jim Larranaga has resigned. Hate to see it end like this. Heck of a career, but things fell apart after the Final Four run 2 years ago. I don't think he was able to adapt to this NIL & free transfer era.

Do any of these guys ever mention how unfair the system was that paid them millions

Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Alex Jensen has agreed to a deal to become the next men's basketball coach at the University of Utah, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Jensen is a Utah native who won Mr. Basketball in the state in 1994 and then played for the Utes under Rick Majerus, winning Mountain West Player of the Year in 2000 and helping lead the program to four NCAA tournament appearances. He also was a starter on the Utah team that went to the 1998 national championship game and lost to Kentucky.

Jensen joined Jason Kidd's staff in Dallas in 2023 after a decade as an assistant with the Utah Jazz, advancing to the NBA playoffs six times. He has experience coaching in college, spending four seasons as an assistant coach at Saint Louis under Majerus before moving into the professional ranks.

Ridiculously stupid timing for the portal to open on March 24th, right in the middle of the NCAA tournament.

Lucas will be announced as Miami's coach on March 10. He'll remain on Jon Scheyer's staff through the end of the regular season, but will not be on the Blue Devils bench in ACC and NCAA tournament play. Duke has one game remaining in the regular season, a road game against rival North Carolina on Saturday.

Keatts out at NC State. This was unexpected since they went to the Final 4 last year plus the university is in the midst of hiring a new chancellor. But holistically it makes sense given that he was only 77-73 outside of last year's ACC and NCAA Tournament runs.

Will Wade considered the early frontrunner for the job

Last year's run saved his job, right?
