Btw iirc NIL deals are more binding starting this year, similar to an NLI
I think there was enough money and lobbying influence that the situations of players enrolling in January to collect a big check and then leaving at the end of the semester to get a new check from someone else was addressed.
 
Is there an article detailing this? First I've heard of it.
Here's an opinion from someone (not me) who has worked on NIL contracts pretty recently and paraphrased as to how I remember it over some wine:

This is governed by the state. Different states have different laws.
Universities and players have tightened up and they both have representation and now written contracts.
A good written contract is generally enforceable and binding.
Agents are generally involved and taking a percentage.

I don't think this has anything to do with any change involving the NCAA or any other association of schools etc.
The first year, nobody knew what was allowable and it made it tough to put it in writing.
Things have quickly firmed up.
