Seems he really enjoyed his visit but wants to take all his OV’s.

Guessing he ultimately ends up out of state

CU has done a terrible job connecting to the northern part of the state. Prime is starting to change perceptions but it's embarrassing how many Nebraska fans live 50 miles from Boulder.
🤷‍♂️
What does connecting with the northern part of the state even mean? Has Nebraska done that? Or do people just pick what they pick

In some ways Windsor is much closer to Nebraska than to Boulder, or at least to the people there that is the perception.

Things have changed some as Fort Collins has come out to meet it and more suburban type housing has developed but Windsor has traditionally be ag country and very western conservative. They have seen Boulder as the center of a liberal culture that is everything they aren't.

That said past history doesn't mean a lot to today's prospects. If he is looking for what is best for him, not just the perceptions of some of the people in his hometown then CU will be a solid choice

I'd say that much of that part of the state has done a poor job of joining the 21st century, leading to the cultural rift Mtn aptly described

Agriculture has shrunk significantly and Windsor has largely left behind its blue-collar, German roots. But CU has never established itself as the state's flagship school. A lot of that is the administration, and lack of commitment to athletics over the years, but the university has also seemed pretty insular and unconcerned about a wider fanbase.

Sooners.

It’s honestly harder to keep top in-state talent. Regardless of the trajectory, these kids have dreams for a decade of playing at like one of ten different programs and CU ain’t one of them.
