Where will CU rank?

Conventional wisdom would be #10, moving ahead of Auburn and Texas A&M while not doing enough to jump Oklahoma or Penn State and with no one ranked behind doing enough to jump Colorado.

But maybe Washington and its horrible non-conference schedule causes them to drop farther than people think. Or maybe the CFP gives a big bump to a 1-loss WVU.

The other question is who moves into the Top 25? San Diego State? Florida? Troy? Stanford?

Besides CU taking care of its own business, the team that can help us the most right now is Michigan. If they win out, our Strength of Record gets even better. Beyond that, they would be pinning a 2nd loss on Ohio State and a 3rd loss on Wisconsin in the process.

They already played and beat wisconsin

I think we jump Washington based on couple simple items. Better strength of record & a quick look at the two performances against our common loss.

That said, I love that we're in a position to debate nuance between 10/9!

went with 9

Does USC move ahead of us?

Based on what? Behind us in the ranks by 8 slots entering week, more losses, behind us in the standings. Yeah, they beat us head-to-head (by 4 at their place with our backup QB playing) and they had the best win of the week, but this narrative of USC jumping up to like 10th or something is crazy.

Based on the fact that they are probably one of the top three or four teams in the country right now. Earlier losses be damned, USC is really, really good.

This!

****ing AP and Coaches poll have utah jump us in both... I don't get it... they have us at 12 and utah at 11

AP moves us up from #16 to #12.

@buff4bcs1985 -- AP & Coaches had Utah ahead of us last week. They didn't jump them above us. Actually, CU closed most of the gap.

The lesson here is if you're going to lose in conference, lose to an also-ran, not a contender. Michigan's loss to Iowa is much worse than Ohio State's loss to Penn State, but with Penn State being a contender and having beat the buckeyes, it all but eliminates Ohio State.

We'd be in a better position with respect to the South standings if we had lost to Oregon State instead of USC.

It is not about losing to an also-ran, all about losing within the division.

Is division record the first tie breaker, over head to head?

My point is losing out of your division is not nearly as damaging as losing within the division because head to head inevitably comes into play.

Unless it's to an also-ran which was kind of my point. An Arizona loss would be better than the USC loss right now as far as the South standings go.

Sefo's experience could well have made the difference in that game. That's my story and I'm stickin' with it!
