A&M To The SEC Nearly A Done Deal ??

the smoke is flying again today-

lots of Twitter accounts with info saying it's nearly a done deal..
message boards with a lot of chatter as well-

rivals main board is an interesting read-

aggy says it's true-

sooner says word is the Big 12 has received A&M's letter of intent to leave the conference.

One rumor coming out is when everything washed out OU and UT to the Big 10 as a package deal as neither OU nor UT want to separate from each other. I think the chances of this are small. I also think the chances of a UT as an indy are small.

my guess is OU/UT/Tech and OSU to the PAC 10 with the LHN spinning off into a regional showing OU/OSU/tech and UT content. This would placated the PAC.

different aggy says not a done deal yet and to expect an ACC team to join w/them.

aggy also says "I've got word from several Bama fans that it's a done deal. Can't confirm yet, but hopefully soon"

It seems we're going to keep hearing these "Texas A&M leaving the Big 12" rumors right up to the day Texas leaves the Big 12.

I doubt this is true, at least for right now. Dood is hearing from Bama *fans* that this is a done deal? ORLY? That's a totally reliable source.

We need to quash any and all talk about UT ever ending up in the Pac.

I'm not really looking forward to 16 team super conferences if that becomes a reality

Lotsa talk down here as well. Some think its a done deal and that aTm won't sked uTerus any more, just for spite. Another intriguing comment is that neither the $ec nor the B101112 wants any part of uTerus because of the donghorn network; too complicated.

Have also heard that there might be some under-the-radar dealings going on for an OU/Okie lite/KU/K-lite to the 12-PAC (and a new division alignment of east/west). I doubt this would happen unless the folks in the lil apple actually commit to academics.

These rumors are a blast.

Please let this be true. The Big 12 must die for everyone's sake.

It's dead now, I hope they stay exactly where they are. If the Big 12 has a major blowup, the programs I hate (UT, OU, A&M) are all going to find soft landings - it's the Iowa State's of the world that are f**ked if it goes under.

IMO the status quo is best for CU and the Pac 12 so I hope they stay where they are...in purgatory forever.

When this was all going down last summer, A&M really, REALLY wanted to go SEC. It never seemed like the SEC wanted them, only that they would much rather go SEC than to the Pac-10 or be stuck in no-man's land (a dissolved Big 12). Now if Oklahoma was willing to come with Texas A&M, that might be intriguing from an SEC point of view. But so far, we haven't heard much from SEC country - most of the whispers seem to be coming from College Station.

It is interesting how things have worked out in the Big 12, er 10. I am sooo glad the Pac went ahead and brought CU on board rather than getting on their knees and waiting for Texass. The Horns were going to insist on leaving CU out and bringing along freaking Baylor. Funny how things work. The Pac-12 got a HUGE windfall from the new TV deal, and now with the Longhorn Network (something that would NEVER be allowed in the Pac-12) the rest of the Big 12 is pissed that they're stuck with UT bossing them around. Well you know what they say about making your bed...

I still think superconferences are the future of college football. The money will be too great to pass up. And frankly, I still hope it happens if for no other reason than I think it will ultimately be the death of the BCS. Four superconferences, with the four winners having a playoff to determine a true national champion. But now, with CU and Utah in the conference, things have changed. Now, if OU and A&M bolt the Big 12, essentially killing the Big 12, you can bet the Texass to the Pac-12 talks will heat up again. But the difference is, this time it will be on our terms. Texass will need the Pac-12 more than the Pac-12 needs Texass.

Said it many times before, and I'll say it again: aTm isn't going anywhere right now. This may fall into place in 3-5 years, but no matter how much noise their stupid fans make, they aren't moving right now. Last summer was their best opportunity and it didn't happen. If I was an Aggy, I'd be pissed about and likely starting rumors incessantly as well. The Ags don't understand that it's not just about them bolting, as the real complications start on who the 14th (and probably 15th and 16th) SEC schools would be. There are some serious complications, and the SEC has yet so even suggest they have any interest in expanding with aTm or anyone else. The only good part about this is that it makes Baylorfans.com one of the funniest/delusional message boards out there. As CU fans, we've got things exactly how we want them. Last summer when it seemed like the Pac was going to 16, I kept saying "Man, if only Texas wouldn't go and we could keep the Pac at 12..." This is a dream scenario for the Buffs right now. Any sort of Pac "East-POD" is a totally ****** proposal that kills so many of the things that make the Pac so appealing to CU, and I can't imagine the Cal's and Stanford's of the league have a hard-on at the thought of Okie Lite or KJUCO joining, either. Let's enjoy the status-quo and hope it stays like this for decades -- it likely won't, but it isn't going to change next week, next month, or next year for that matter, either.

All we have to do is look at all our options. Kenny and The Canadian make some calls and get a bidding war for us going.

Tell the Pac-12 we forgive them for trying to screw us over last year. Tell the SEC we really like them not the Pac-12, they'll take us and we can bring along A&M. Then we call the Big East and tell them to drop TCU and pick us, we are much better at basketball. Then call the ACC and tell them the Big East and SEC want us.

We then do a special on ESPN to let the world know where we are taking out talents to. RG3 can announce it.

That is the exit strategy.

That's not a serious post. Baylor fans (all 10 of them) may be whack-jobs, but they're not that crazy. This was a joke. The problem is that based on past behavior, it's hard to tell if it's really a joke or not.

You know, as a SWC fan growing up, my mom and dad met at SMU and my dad was a teammate with Doak Walker and Bobby Lane, this is all very sad.

I can see a situation where the PAC might consider taking OU but they would want nothing to do with ISU, KSU, Baylor, Tech. OSU would not be high on their list either. Worst case scenerio (since I like the PAC like it is would be OU, KU, and two others to go to 16. The other two might include aTm but they want to go SEC, OSU only because of the OU connection, and Mizzery. We would then end up with the eastern division which I don't want to see.

I think right now what we are hearing is lots of wishful thinking from those who are still stuck with TexAss and wish they had a better option.

In the long run I would guess that if we end up with growing conferences Atm and OU end up in the SEC, Texas and ND end up in the Big 10 along with Mizzou. KU hopes to get an invite to a major conference taking what they can get (PAC, Big East if it still exist, etc.) KSU gets left out in the cold as does ISU, Baylor and probably Tech.

I don't think Mizzou has any shot at the Big10 whatsoever. Mizzou was so sure they were Big10 bound last year (even before CU and Nebraska's respective moves had gained any steam) and it turned out the Big10 had zero interest. Any further Big10 expansion other than the dreams of Notre Dame/Texas will come in the Northeast with Syrause and Rutgers, imo. Mizzou's only shot at a superconference is the SEC, and it goes without saying that they're pretty low down on that pecking order as well. It depends on how extensive the realignment is, but the most likely destination for Mizzou/KU/KSU is the Big East. Sucks for them, but that's a whole lot better than what awaits Baylor and Iowa State. TCU's move to the Big East has left a nice opening for Baylor in the MWC.
