I know Viska finished this past weekend, anything been said about his shoulder, yet?
I was at that game and it was the only time I have ever been ashamed of being a CU fan. The kids weren't hippies lol they were intense fans just like last Saturday. The behavior that day though was helped by the play up to the game, lots of anti military news coverage, tough games with the zoomies previously. Really f*cked up day, one I try to forget.Interesting article. I didn't realize why it has been so long since CU played AFA.
Give peace a chance as Air Force football returns to Boulder | David Ramsey
Air Force is, finally, renewing its football rivalry with the University of Colorado. A look at the chaos in Boulder that ended the series in 1974, and a look atgazette.com
I was there, too! All I remember was that the whole Cadet student body had a well-deserved reputation as arroganr a-holes that rivaled Nebraska fans at their worst! That attitude certainly didn't inspire respect from the CU crowd! The bad anti-war/anti-military stuff didn't really start until late '69, early 1970. I was on campus then, I remember it very well.I was at that game and it was the only time I have ever been ashamed of being a CU fan. Military or ‘fighter’? I feel like this is too open ended.
Depends. Some are excellent guys. Some still have the stick up their ass from the Academy. Want to know why PHX is the least desirable base for First Officers? It isn’t the heat.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Graduated back in that era in 1977 from USAFA, spent 20 years as a fighter pilot and now about to retire after 22 years at United Airlines. Been blessed to do both jobs and I have always managed to land the airplane versus coming home a different undesired way, so in my book that's a plus plus win win.Military or ‘fighter’? I'm too lazy to look it up, but there was some article several months ago in a popular site about potential "trap games" for various college football teams, and AFA vs. Colorado was one of those listed. That being said, Colorado -3.5 is ridiculous and one should take Colorado and give the points, if one is bettin' man...

Then you remember the chants that had nothing to do with football. It wasn't anything to do with their fans, their team. Like I said it was the only time I felt shame to be a fan. There was no excuse for the behavior of CU fans that day, the cadets had zero to do what was going on at the time. It wasn't really the students but the alumni that took it overboard, that is where I felt the shame. Saturday is a new day and it's going to be great to watch and pull for the BUFFS to stampede those awesome f*ckers from down south. One cruddy day will never define CU and the fans the people who come to CU may not be perfect, may not have the largest base, however we are the best mother f*ckers who are out there. For you young people CU students and fans have stayed with them through crap that was worse than the last 15 years WE REALLY ARE THE BESTI was there, too! I don't recall CU having to deal with three rivalry games in a row. Air Force will be giving CU its best shot and if you watched their MWC pre-season video, they talked about how much they were looking forward to playing CU.

So how do we match up with Air Force? I have no idea since we havent played an option team in???
Only thing that comes up is we have small CB's who will get pushed around and we havent been able to stop the run off the edges so far
Welcome! Enjoy the game on Saturday. Hint on how to get free beer at any tailgate: "Can anyone around here tell me where I can find a team that kicked the **** out of Nebraska two years in a row!"AF Falcon fan here. Looking for a great game with no injuries and I'll see some of ya at the game.
First thoughts and quick hits:
-This is not the small Falcon team of the past. We've kept the speed but offensive line now averages at 292# and our starting NG on defense is 310+. Just an observation that fans of teams that normally don't play us think size will be a great advantage but not necessarily anymore. Can't post the link (but I'll try https://gazette.com/sports/air-force-sports/ ) but if you go the CSprings Gazette AF sports page you'll get lots of links talking players. Also one of the few times that the altitude in Boulder will not be an advantage.
-AF vs Colgate was, uhhhh, AF vs Colgate. Didn't need much and didn't show much. One pass was thrown and that was by the #2 QB in the 2nd half (and completed). Passing stats 1-1/41yards. Don't be surprised in this game if you see what a good passer QB Hammond can be. 'IF' the 4th option of the triple option is really used, ie the play action pass' it can be effective and surprise a run centric anticipating defending defense.
-Our defense's job and objective will be to stop your pass attack and especially your 6-2/215# Shenault who we do not match well against 'but' our DB's/secondary is much improved this year. Key will be if the defensive line can get penetration.
-Look out for our stable of RB's and FB's and an experienced line with 4 of 5 starters back.
Long time since the game in 1973 (my freshman year at USAFA) with a lot of hard feelings back then at the end of the Vietnam era. I have been to every AF vs CU basketball game home and away and have not seen anything but mutual respect between the teams and fans (even though folks were not happy 'back in the day' when we actually won 30+ points at CU in Ricardo Patton's last season when most AF fan's believe AF's coach Bzdelik (he who shall not be named) was starting to look for the CU job).
Can't wait and I expect this will be a dragged out game and 'hope' we compete.
GO FALCONS

At least Tyson Summers and Tucker have coached against it in the past.So how do we match up with Air Force? I have no idea since we havent played an option team in???

To state the sort of obvious, tackling will be the key for both defenses. Just watching the AFA-Crest (oops, sorry, Colgate) highlights, AFA gets blockers ahead of whoever's running the ball, leaving only one guy to make the tackle. So, either get off the blocks or that one guy must make the tackle.
AF DBs are going to play zone and try to keep everything in front of them. Can they tackle 'viska? They are certainly going to need more than one DB to do so.
Is Wells healthy? That’s important IMO. I expect more 2 OLB set like used against CSU and less Star this week.So how do we match up with Air Force? I have no idea since we havent played an option team in???

Adam mentioned that Taylor would in more of a traditional OLB role this week.Is Wells healthy? That’s important IMO. I expect more 2 OLB set like used against CSU and less Star this week.
This makes a ton of sense, fast kid who tackles well should really help handle the optionAdam mentioned that Taylor would in more of a traditional OLB role this week.
My fear is that he is too small. They may run right him. His discipline has improved. He will need it Saturday. He did not play in this role vs CSU.This makes a ton of sense, fast kid who tackles well should really help handle the option
