I am a buddy with the biggest Longhorn fan around...sounds ridiculous, but it is true. He is unbelievably well-connected. I could get sweet tickets in the middle of their cheering section. Should I go that route, or shoot for decent tickets within the old-timer CU season ticket holders on the westside?

1st choice sounds like a sure thing, and honestly the game is not in Austin so the teasip fanbase should not be as obnoxious I would think. I know of several Ut fans I could sit at a game with and have a good time.
2nd is a gamble and it all depends on how the season plays out. If both teams are undefeated come 10/4, an alum ticket more than likely be as scarce as a virgin in a whorehouse.

To that end, does anyone have some decent tickets in the CU section?
Get the tix from your buddy, make your way to the top of the CU student section and rock out. Theres always some older folk around, Ill even stand with ya if you bring teh booze.
