Anyone else feeling the magic...

As others have said in other threads, this was certainly a game we lose last year. This year's team showed tremendous grit/ determination/ resiliency, and that is often the mark of a special year.

Additionally, though the process has been sometimes slow, if we think back several years it is undeniable that we have some truly special play makers on the field now, the rewards of that incremental improvement and the breakthrough 2016 season.

You know what was magical? The silence of Memorial Stadium after the win. It was so quiet and peaceful. I rather enjoyed it. I also enjoyed running into Rick George after the game near the player buses. He shook my hand and was on cloud 9. He said “I’m 2-1 here!” Since we are on the topic of things that are magical, I quite enjoy all of the glares that I am getting while wearing my Buffs hat in Omaha. It’s going to be a great week.

This team can do some great things. They have some areas that need work but the players show promise and we have some awesome talent. I am excited for this season.

These are heady days. Beating CSU and Nebraska in back-to-back weeks is very special. This latest two game rivalry series emotionally reminds me of other favorite back-to-back games.

1990:
10/27 #22 Oklahoma 32-23
11/3 @#3 Nebraska 27-12

2001
11/23 #1 Nebraska 62-36
12/1 #3 Texas @CCG Irving,TX 39-37

While a match up with New Hamshire isn't compelling, it will be interesting to see their mental make-up going from a high drama, high emotion game to a meh game. Will they keep the pedal down and end the game early, get back-ups some time or will they slog through and underperform?

Coaching challenge this week for sure.

The next 3 games are all winnable and there is a bye week in there. Keep grinding and getting better and they could be 5-0 when they head to LA.

I saw all four of those games in person. (y)

Add 1989 Oklahoma and Nebraska back to back

Good call. ‘89 includes 2 great back-to-back rivalry wins:

9/4 Texas 27-6
9/9 CSU 45-20
(Followed by:
9/16 #10 Illinois 38-7
9/30 #21 @Washington 45-28)

10/28 @Oklahoma 20-3
11/4 Nebraska 27-21

Stroll down memory lane: I was in pre-internet Spain at the time and had to rely on newspaper clippings sent from my dad by air mail that season. I went to the real Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on New Years in solidarity with the Buffs with a couple oranges in my pockets and got yelled at by the police for climbing on the iron gates for a photo. Good times.

This was the kind of game that can help a team believe that they can and should win tough, close games, even if on the road in a hostile environment.

Yea and it's definitely the type of game we lost last year. But at the same if not for that terribly all-advised penalty by the Husker DB we almost certainly lose this game.

Where and when you win is much more important than how you win. These players I can assure you aren't looking at this win with any "yea, buts."

You can pick apart any close game with a dozen of those "but..." statements. Had we not missed two field goals we wouldn't have needed that final drive.

...of 2016? I know it's early, but these kids seem really special. Probably not worth a whole thread, but who the f uck cares! WE BEAT THE CORNHOLES!!!!

I totally agree and what is more is that this team is almost entirely returning next year. Way different than ‘16 when you felt like it was just an experienced group. This win showed a lot of moxy by a pretty young core. Makes the feeling even a bit better

I’m guessing those kisses may have had a little to do with Stephano having a different holder instead of Kinney..

I don't think all of the pieces are there to quite replicate 2016's success, but I think this is a good team that will get better as the year goes on. I think we'll finish the regular season 8-4

We get the right call on the forward progress play (fumble) we punish the Fuskers for another turnover and win by 12. Neither team was perfect-sloppy win, but the kind of game we lose last year. Not ready to put this team on a level with the one two years ago, but this is definitely one who should win 7-8 games.

This was a good win, but I felt better about the team that went into the Big House and almost pulled out a win against a ranked opponent. The way we played in that game was shocking. Nebraska wasn't a contender last year and isn't a very good team this year. Wins against Nubs are special, especially road wins, but I think we'll take our lumps this year.
