Arizona State to announce $300m renovation of Sun Devil Stadium

You know that, I know that ... but nothing has been officially announced or confirmed.
Just getting all the ducks in a row. It would be really bad if Bohn announced it and the guy funding the majority of its business deal fell through. We don't want to end up looking like Bailor here. Recruits have been shown a model that's sitting in the Dal Ward and should be announced in early May.

I have heard enough back channel wise to be convinced MB is going forward witha significant upgrade...I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he is on track with something we will like.

They're talking about the capacity of Sun Devil Stadium being around 60,000. That's a drop from it's current capacity. With the CU expansion (rumored, still), that will bring the Folsom capacity up to around 60,000.

Interesting that they interviewed Dan Skipper. I'm sure he's also seen the renderings of CU's expansion, which won't take nearly as long to complete and will actually provide the prospective recruits a lot more benefit.

Keep sitting on your ass doing nothing, Bohn.

Press conference at 10am MT today according to Jimmy Wood. It´s supposed to include a tarp roof for shade.

Bohn is going to sit on his ass and continue to do nothing until certain business transactions are completed at the end of the month. Can't announce anything until the money is in place, once the money is in place, you'll see the announcement.

I'm not worried about the pace, I'm worried about if it is gonna happen. I'm fine to announce this in May or whatever.

I'm fine with waiting until the funds are accounted for before making any kind of announcement.

A tarp isn't enough - they need to provide individual A/C units for each seat for those September games.

Looks like a badly rendered scene out of star trek with everything covered up in white tarp.

I think it looks good. The problem is that they start games in September and early October just before the sun goes down anyway, so although I'm not an engineer, it seems to me the tarp won't be blocking the sun, but trapping in the heat.

it will probably also reflect a lot of the heat away during the days

I dont like it. You are ASU, you are in the desert. It's supposed to be hot as hell. That is your homefield advantage... Why would you ruin that? Not to mention it looks like one of those ships from Star Wars in Jabba the Hutt's flotilla

I have heard they need to put up the shade because they have to start playing games earlier in the afternoon due to the new TV deal. They cant wait for sundown anymore. Direct sun out there in the desert can cause serious harm. I think its a smart move. It looks stupid, but its a smart move

Is it breezy in Arizona during football season? Proposed stadium looks well ventilated on the sides, so any heat trapped would be blown out.

I attended a game there in Early September. It was 105 degrees at 8PM. No breeze at all.

Color me unimpressed with the two renderings that have been offered up. I can't imagine why that would cost $300MM.

I want to see a few more pictures of it, but from the two they have on the website, it just looks weird.

I think it looks cool..
