He's playing the media game, wish the Colorado heavies (if you can call them that) would play the media a bit more.

I have to question that because Waco isn't that far from Kileen where a huge US Army base is located at. If that Army base closes, it will crush Waco's economcy harder than BU being part of the C-USA. I believe that region is already reeling after the US Army said they'd move more of Ft. Hood's soliders to Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs.

That might explain partly why BU can't draw sellout crowds for any other game unless UT, A&M, or OU visits Waco.
 
This is a lot like the 10 year old who goes crying to mommy when he's not picked to play in a playground game of kickball...

If Baylor can't make in on their own merits, get in on someone else's.
 
Where is Ken Salazar when you need him?

I see your 15 Baylor grad State Legislators and University of Baylor President and raise you the US Secretary of the Interior!

He would never do it but with all the bluffing and poker faces around this story it feels like my typical Friday night.

Baylor has 15k students, CU has 29k in Boulder and 66k over all campuses, years of alumni add up to a lot more CU eyeballs, and A LOT more CU eyeballs in the Pac 10 sphere of influence.

We dont need any help from bankrupt potato farmers that couldnt get into CU. Heck of a job, Sally.

My Baylor grad friend (& Boulder native) even had to admit this. He said that CU brings financially way more to the table than Baylor does - so it would make more sense for the Buffs. He then went on to spout how their basketball teams are so much better & their baseball team is good. I didn't want to debate the merits of our alma mater's athletic departments but I think everyone understands CU would bring the Pac-10 more money.

I also have a huge question mark about the libs in the Cal system agreeing to a school with Ken Starr as their president, but whatever.

Until today, a question that had been entirely hypothetical.

It would be satisfying to see somebody screaming to the rafters about how much more CU would bring to the table than Bailer, but I'm not sure how effective it would be. There tends to be a pretty common reaction in people in positions of power (or those who see themselves that way). Start trying to stampede them in public or in the press and they'll dig in their heels or even go the other way. If I'm Larry Scott, Ken Starr running around grandstanding in the press or Buddy what-his-nuts sending out e-mails about trying to take broadside shots at another school isn't making me warm to the idea of inviting Bailer to join my conference....

I'm not sure sense has much to do with this, as it looks like the Pac10 thinks what makes the most cents is UT, regardless of everything else.
 
Keep bringing those facts up...if the Pac-10 chooses BU over CU, it's a good thing we are not part of that conference because in 10-15 years, we will be facing a new round of conference realignments. Given how the Pac-10 has been careful with expansion in the past, that could be good news for us.
 
When I think of Waco I think of David Koresh, when I think of Boulder I think of the Flatirons. You make the call.
 
This may be a good thing. If the press conference is a continuation of his article, that means they are still worried that they are not invited.

Sounds suspiciously like the statements issued by KSU and ISU....

As I said in my blog post, in their case it was a bit like a fish issuing a statement in support of water. Their options are fairly limited...
