Big 12 Championship Tie Breaker

If we win out, we'll finish 3rd in the conference, which is great considering where we were even last year. We're not going to the CFP at 10-2 though. Like I said, BYU and ISU both go before we do, and the committee isn't putting 3 Big 12 teams in the CFP, even if we end up ranked much higher than we are right now.

Getting worked up about the CFP is greedy anyway. I'm pretty sure that most of us were predicting 7, 8 wins. 10 would be remarkable, regardless of where it puts us in the postseason.

I had zero expectations of a CFP berth for the Buffs before the season and I still have those expectations. Just enjoy the ride the Buffs are on right now.

Just because I'm enjoying pissing in Wheaties right now, here are teams ahead of us in the playoff picture right now:

Big Ten: Oregon, Pedo State, OSU, Indiana, maybe Illinois
SEC: Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas, Tennessee, maybe Alabama
ACC: Miami, Clemson, PItt, SMU
Big 12: BYU, ISU
G5: Army, Boise State

It's the longest shot ever that we would get in.

Believe me, I would **** my pants we could host a playoff game. But it's not going to happen this year. All in good time.

What is in the grasp of reality is 10 wins and putting Travis in Heisman contention.

For ratings, would you rather have BYU, ISU, or CU in the cfp? Asking for a friend.

BYU and ISU aren't losing, and the CFP isn't a) taking 3 Big 12 teams and b) taking a 10-2 CU team over a 12-1 Big 12 CCG loser. I think the Big 12 gets two teams in, but it's going to be 13-0 BYU/ISU and 12-1 BYU/ISU. Our chances died with that KSU go route.

It's fun to think about, but let's just get to 10-2 and go to the Alamo Bowl (again) where we can play Washington State and beat their asses to go to 11-2. That'll be a hell of a successful season.
Just because we went back and forth last week on what you viewed as not happening, just bringing this up and saying it didn't age well

What happens tie breaker wise if Utah beats BYU this weekend? Is CU still on the outside of the conf championship looking in?
If BYU loses, but ISU and CU win (and then all three win out), it's a three way tie for #1, but ISU would have the tiebreaker over both, and BYU would have the tie breaker over CU.

- I don't think all three teams are winning out
- These tie breakers are very much contingent on the outcomes of other games in conference and there are a lot of difference scenarios that change the standings
- It's really hard to make any definitive predictions with 4 games left

Here is a calculator that allows you change the outcomes of each remaining game and calculate the standings.

Eat **** Marge lover.

I'll own it if I'm wrong, but I think BYU names their score against Utah. The Yoots are cooked.
Now that ISU has a loss, does BYU losing buy the Buffs anything? Or do we want a depleted/defeated Utah team that CU actually has to play?

Well, if BYU lost to Utah but we beat them, we would have beat the team that they lost to and they would have beat the team that they lost to, so then it would go to who would finish higher in the standings between Utah and K State - I think? But that's only the tiebreaker between the two of us - I don't even know what would happen if BYU, ISU, and we all ended up with one loss.

I think what's best for us now that ISU has lost is for BYU to go undefeated. Then, if we win out, but finish third, we want BYU to win the CCG and hopefully we are in position to get an at large bid. Obviously if we get in to the CCG, it's win or go home, but I still think we want BYU to be undefeated because then us winning and getting the auto bid puts another conference's team out, probably not 12-1 BYU.

This calculator says that if Utah beats BYU this week and then everything between CU, BYU and ISU go chalk the rest of the way the standings are
1. ISU
2. BYU
3. CU - Below BYU due to record against the 4th highest team in the standings, in this case KSU, and BYU beat them while we lost.

It really does look like CU still needs ISU to lose once or BYU to lose twice.

Best Path: CU wins out and watches ISU lose to BYU in the CCG

Easy double bid for B12

No

Best path is ISU losing to KSU and we whoop BYU in the championship for the autobid.

I truly don’t give a **** about anyone else.

But maybe that’s because I’m a selfish libert…..

I've watched ISU a few times and I think they're not a good as their record. Problem is, they don't really have to play anyone between now and KSU.

At Kansas, Cincinnati at home, at Utah.

They should win all three games, even if they're overrated. Really it's going to come down to Farmageddon. My best bet is that KSU is going to win that game, but the problem is that it's at Ames.

See, I think they lose 2 of their remaining 4 games. KU and Cincy aren’t pushovers.

This is a hard game for them, and also for us.
I hope that since they'll be eliminated from bowl eligibility by the time we play them (2-6 with ISU & BYU the next 2 weeks), they'll be flat. I had worried about maybe dealing with a final home game, senior day motivated opponent, but I think them playing away from campus due to stadium construction will squash that.

So how do we feel now? I’m really having a hard time forcing my myself to root for BYU tonight.

Kinda don't want Utah to get much traction after that tough game for us. I don't want to root for either, but I don't like the Yoots playing this well.

They’re just gearing up for their Super Bowl next week. Same as TT did.
