"Black Out" the Jayhawks

I'm shaking in my boots at a mob of 5'8" 140 pound snowboarders ganging up on me.

You are right. We should be the ones worried...

Thanks for helping to fund our basketball program, what do you do with the rest of your tickets?

He's making sure all of our opponent's fans get them. It's a one man crusade of sorts. We're going to be inundated with Wazzu fans.

This guy's probably going to buy CU season tickets for the next 40 years, just to spite CU fans. On the bright side, he can always switch allegiances after CU raises their 5th straight National Title banner.

At the end of the day, he's still funding our program. I would rather CU find a way where only Buff fans get tickets, but short of that I'd rather see the tickets being bought then not bought. Like you said only KU/UofA really travel, it's not like the Big 12.

Surprised Self would go with Mason, considering his recent history with sticking with veterans. I'd pack the paint against KU, as none of their starters have shown the ability to hit a consistent outside shot. But Mason's been particularly bad, even if he is only a freshman. Guess CU doesn't exactly have too many great outside shooters themselves, but at least Dinwiddie is a threat to score from outside.

I'm not positive, but I think Self is sending a message to Naadir Tharpe. Part of it is the rules change. Mason can really get to the paint especially considering that defenses can't touch him this season. I would like to see Mason distribute the ball better on his drives versus forcing shots, but a good percentage of the time he's getting fouled and with him shooting close to 80% from the line I guess I can live with it.

On that note, your team has been shooting ridiculously well at the line. It's quite a luxury when your "5" is 42 of 51 from the free-throw stripe.

Ha I wouldn't walk by the C-Unit alone, wearing blue. Enough drunken kids up at the top to start crap. You are probably right, but I would still play it safe.

I've got no interest in being "classy" fans. Nebraska can enjoy their circle jerk with that **** and leave me out of it. But anyone who gets violent or threatens it over what team someone cheers for is a loser - no matter what colors he's wearing.

I saw 4 or 5 kids almost get trampled to death and a couple kids get thrown down 3 or 4 rows of seats when they rushed the court against UofA. That level of drunken disregard will be present tomorrow. I have no idea what they will do.

I wouldn't go that far, I think you should show a certain amount of class to the opponent. I don't think you have to welcome them with open arms, but it's sports at the end of the day. I agree there's no place violence period. I hope KU fans are treated with dignity, the same way I'd like CU fans to be treated that way at Allen Fieldhouse. That said, a little ribbing can be expected when you go into enemy territory.

This is awesome. This KU guy is recycling MWC smack talk.

bigXII(ish) which school(s) in your conference do you like as more than a friend?

Mason certainly is one of the more athletic freshman from what I've seen. Doesn't turn it over a lot. Just surprised Self would go away from the veteran player in Tharpe, especially considering CU and Florida are KU's first true road games of the year. Hard to know how a young player responds. But guess it doesn't matter that much who starts, as Tharpe could still end up playing more minutes depending on how the game goes. Do like Dinwiddie in this match up.

There's something wrong if there's not a little "ribbing" as you say.

But you're talking to a guy that's had his tires slashed, car vandalized, been sucker punched, etc. etc. in Columbia, Missouri so many times that I guess I'm just desensitized to drunk college-aged children being stupid. The very worst I've ever seen is when we played Missouri at Arrowhead Stadium when the teams were #1 and #2 back in '07. It was a night game and everyone (including myself) had plenty of time to get pretty hammered. Even in that situation, college-aged children have a way of finding their faces rearranged by the folks they provoke.

Agree with this. Hope that KU fans are very disappointed with a loss tomorrow, but come away impressed with the environment. Violence doesn't have a place in any sporting event

KU fan here-

This will be a good game. It's nice to see your program doing so well.

We haven't played very well over the last 3 games. Some of that is playing 3 games in 3 days with a young team, and some of it is that we were exposed a bit for our deficiencies.

I like our big guys chances matching up with CU. Ellis and Embiid have been pretty impressive and we are loaded with depth at the 4 and 5 if the game is called tight and fouls start to mount.(Black, Traylor, Lucas, and in an emergency Wesley who was a rotation player for our national runner up team 2 years ago but is now our 6th "big")

Self just announced that Frank Mason will start at point guard tomorrow so we are now starting frosh at the 1, 2, and 3. Obviously our starting guards are very athletic and talented, but they lack a bit in their ability to hit outside shots. I think that Mason is starting because of his defense/transition skills...the more stops we get on D=more transition opportunities, and we have to personnel to be pretty lethal in transition at the rim with Wiggins, Selden, Embiid, Black, Ellis etc etc. I was a bit surprised that Mason will start, but obviously Self is trying to figure out how to get Wiggins and Selden going and having a pit-bull type of point guard hounding the ball on D might help us get stops and start running.

Our best perimeter shooters all come off the bench, (Tharpe, White III, Greene, Frankamp). We really need to tighten up our rotation but we have yet to have White, Greene, or Frankamp create separation from the others to emerge as our 5th guard/zone-buster-shooing-specialist.

Overall, I think KU is a better basketball team than CU, but on the road in what you guys seem to think will be a hostile environment, it's probably a coin-flip type of game. Best of luck after Saturday.

ok, all the S*** talking asside, this really makes me excited for this game. Should be an exciting style, not like the Wyoming games where the other team sat in a zone defense, and tryed to limit all transition basketball. Seems that both teams are going to look to get out and run, with a lot of taking the basketball to the rim. That spells for exciting basketball.

By the way, I hate watching Zone basketball.

Why hasn't Mark Mangino been able to find another job? 2007 was a crazy year for KU football, hasn't been a year like it before, we might go another 100 years til another one.

not liking CU's chances without Gordon. Think the only way we pull this off is if Ski goes all Charleston tourney/Illinois on Kansas along with solid performances from all of our starters. We can't have our frosh put in a performance like the frosh did last year.

I don't know. The guy could coach and he was a master at bringing it 2-3 star recruits that ended up being NFL players. Our starting corners that year were Aqib Talib and Chris Harris and we had a total of 8 or 9 guys on that that were on NFL rosters at some point...not bad for a basketball school and unheard of for KU.

Reasons have zero to do with football coaching acumen. As I understand it, he's belligerent, borderline Bobby Knight with players, and there are serious health risks on hiring a coach that fat, with that attitude, and putting him in a pressure cooker job.

That said, he wins so you'd think there would be a school out there that could put blinders on & make the hire.

Kind of surprising a small non-AQ schools hasn't taken a chance on him

Hey that sounds like me. Can't wait

Maybe my words of caution should have been directed at the CUnit then. But then again rushing the court shouldn't happen tomorrow. Tad said after the UofA game he hopes he never sees it again at CEC. We expect to win.

UofA was different given what happened a month before. I'd imagine were not rushing short of beating a top 2-3 team in the country OR sometime when we outrageously the underdog.
