There's a great ongoing discussion on the USC 247 board about Prime right now. You've got half the USC fans that respect what he's done and think USC would lose by 2 TD's if we played today. The other half think that Maryland, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Rutgers is a gauntlet that no team could overcome. They need to see this!
2024 XII is much weaker than 2023 P12.The narrative about the weak B12 is fascinating. Of the former P12 teams, Oregon is the only one I can say for sure we would be an underdog against. I’d like our chances against every other team in what was the P12.
Wait, I thought we played lowly teams? I'll wait to hear from our friend from the PNW before I believe this....
The meat of our schedule is behind us now so our SOR is going to look a lot weaker in December. Thanks, Okie lite and Utah.Wait, I thought we played lowly teams? I'll wait to hear from our friend from the PNW before I believe this....
Sadly, I don't think this is your typical "DOOOOM" post. Spot on....The meat of our schedule is behind us now so our SOR is going to look a lot weaker in December. Thanks, Okie lite and Utah.
Also, nebraska turning out to be on the ****ty side of mediocre is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad for us.

Having a hard time finding Jeanty’s stats on defense… seems like he’s played less than half the snaps (games) Hunter hasI can't see Hunter getting the Heisman after the missed time due to injuries unless the Boise State kid also gets injured. He's just so far out in front statistically now. Outside of an anomaly of some kind with pick 6's, 200 yard receiving games, or multiple 3 TD / 4 TD games. I think Hunters chances are gone.
What an odd takeIt's really unimportant. We have no chance of getting to the CCG or the CFP, but the first bowl that can take us will. We probably have a one loss cushion on that, actually. What we're really playing for here is Travis's Heisman chances.

We have no chance at the CCG or CFP?Explain.
Nah. We play four straight weeks to finish the season. If we win at least 3, he will be top 3 for sure (assuming continued production).I can't see Hunter getting the Heisman after the missed time due to injuries unless the Boise State kid also gets injured. We are a good but not great team. Enjoy the ride, hopefully win some random bowl game. Not realistically. ISU and BYU are going to be favored in every game left on their schedule. The chances of them both reaching the CCG 12-0 are better than not. And our at large prospects, despite what the oddsmakers say, are dismal. There are 4 Big Ten teams realistically ahead of us, 4 SEC teams, at least 2 ACC teams, 2 Big 12 teams, and of course the G5 spot.
It's not outside the realm of possibility, but it's also something no rational fan should be counting on.
I agree. At this stage, we would be well served to win a mid level bowl game than get trucked by Georgia, Texas, Oregon or OSU in the CFP. The narrative about this team at the beginning of the season was that they’d be lucky to win 5 games. The goalposts have shifted to where we are not an elite team. Well, yeah. We aren’t. We never claimed to be. Getting exposed in the CFP would raise the volume and detract from what has been a remarkable turnaround for the program. We are a good but not great team. Way better than getting worked in the CFP.

It's the same type of argument as winning the NIT vs getting bounced in the first game of March Madness.Nah
Making the playoff would be huge

I think it comes down to him breaking Barry Sanders' record.I thought Jeanty hurt his chances against UNLV. 33 for 138 and 1 TD is not a Heisman performance. Great game against Georgia Southern and some other mid schools though.
I think it comes down to him breaking Barry Sanders' record.
If he clears it by any significant margin, he'll get at least some first place votes.
Unless of course Travis has a pair of pick 6's, and a couple 200 yard receiving games.
Yeah, I'm saying Jeanty gets some first place votes if he breaks the record, not that he definitely wins.Remember when McCaffrey broke the single-season all-purpose yards held by Barry Sanders and voters gave the Heisman to the Henry who didn't even have a 2,000 yard season.
Georgia couldn’t even beat a mid Alabama. We could hold our own.I agree. Let's stop and think about this. UGA's DL v. CU's OL?Georgia couldn’t even beat a mid Alabama. We could hold our own.
There's no way he breaks that record even against what could be the weakest stretch of opponents you could possibly set up for him. He'll have to average over 200ypg, but now you have every DC putting a bullseye on him so the dynamics change.I think it comes down to him breaking Barry Sanders' record.

I see Gabriel and Cam Ward have passed the Boise kid as the favorites along with Hunter still in the mix. I guess we will see if Hunter has some special games in him down the stretch or if Ward or Gabriel fizzle. It's possible Boise, Miami, and Oregon all end the year with 0 or 1 loss which I think hurts as well. It's an interesting case study because Hunter is the best 2 way player and has the most impact on a game each week. But his popular stats aren't anything special and he has missed time with injuries. There's no way he breaks that record even against what could be the weakest stretch of opponents you could possibly set up for him. Back to my first point. How do we get sh!t on for our SOS and Boise doesn't? That schedule is straight azz. We'd average 180 on the ground against that "gauntlet" even with a 70/30 play call split.
Derrick Henry is the only human in history to run for 2000 yards in a season in high school, college, and the NFL.Remember when McCaffrey broke the single-season all-purpose yards held by Barry Sanders and voters gave the Heisman to the Henry who didn't even have a 2,000 yard season.
