Butch Jones Decision Day Thread

Figured it would be easy to keep it all in one place.

Latest I have: Jones is 50/50 as of 7.07am MST. I believe his wife makes the final decision and have reason to say that. I will post on this thread as we go this morning.

Then Mrs. Jones owns 51%.

I don't like 50/50. If he goes with "no" I think it will look pretty ****tastic on us.

What's changed? Yesterday afternoon you were pretty confident he was our guy.

What changed is he went "home" and has to move his family of 5 to a new place etc. I can tell you per his own staff, that he has not made a decision as of 31 min. ago.

It sounds like Cincinnati stepped up to the plate with some more money, too.

It also sounds like Purdue is out of the running. He either stays in Cinci, or comes to CU.

I know money is kind of secondary to comfort level, but what is the difference we are talking about? $500,000 to $700,000 per year? Not only that, his assistants will make much more in Boulder won't they? He has to consider them as well.

50/50 in a job situation really means he's staying in cinci..."change" is a tough one

Yah kind of sucks. Hearing the same stuff (not from any direct sources but social media) that cinci really upped the ante.

Purdue fans hating on CU but I think it is b/w us or cinci.

My 2 cents is he comes. Here's why:

1.) He already has a foot out the door. Most people once they actively start looking elsewhere usually go elsewhere
2.) Probably related to reason for #1, no matter what offer Cinci came to the table with all info including from Cinci media is that they have been promising facilities improvements but no commitments and no finances to pull it off
3.) Cinci got left out of the ACC and are now going to be in a non BCS conference

I think he's gone. I also think, and could be wrong, that he is showing loyalty to Cinci and at least letting people know he is having a hard time with the decision so that when he does make it, it doesn't look like he blew off their AD and the community. At least keep the appearance of it being a difficult decision out of respect for their community.

But I could be totally wrong.

Also did you guys read that supposedly the Purdue offer was better than ours?!

Cincy will definitely step up to the plate with more money, the question is how much and will that be enough to keep him there. And of course there are other large factors such as Pac-12 vs. Big East and the facility upgrade commitment at CU, whereas at Cincy there's still no commitment as far as facilities are concerned.

This. Unless Cincy also matched the pool for assistants, this is a big deal. For some of the guys they could potentially be looking to double their current salary. In the big scheme, there's not a lot of difference between a salary of $2.5MM and $2.75MM, but the difference between a salary of, say, $85,000 and $150,000 is huge.

heading to the gym...best chance for the morning to get there. Also, need to workout the nerves. Lets see if I make it even an hour there today. Phone will be in hand, twitter feed buzzing.

I think conference realignment is a big issue for Jones. The Big East is collapsing while the PAC 12 is very stable with further expansion talk rebuffed by Scott. Plus Cincy simply doesn't have resources to pull off major facility upgrades.
