Coach MM conference call with fans - 12pm March 13th

When Hawkins was here, he’d say a lot of stupid stuff that for the first couple of years, everybody believed. He’d spin a yarn about being the bow or some such bull**** and we’d all be like “heh, cool”. After it became obvious that he was a fraud, every word out of his mouth was like nails on a chalkboard. It didn’t matter what he said, because he was obviously full of crap. MM is starting to enter that territory now with his talk about how everybody is doing great, and everybody is looking good, and everybody is making progress. That stuff is believable for a while, but when you do that and go **** the bed during the season, you come across as just another fraud.

Long story short - he needs to win. Another year of this will be unbearable without some solid on-field performance to point to.

It didn't take long for me to be dubious of Hawkins (Montana State), and his behaviors, decisions, and coaching kept that ball rolling down hill.

HCMM on the other hand seems to have some really strong attributes; Character, commitment, supporting staff, recruiting, but it is paramount for HCMM to win MORE, especially this upcoming season.

Push 1 if you have already renewed your season tickets.
Push 2 if you plan to renew
Push 3 if you are thinking about renewing
Push 4 if you don’t plan to renew

That’s pretty much what stood out to me from the call. Glorified ticket renewal marketing.

With softball questions from fans, it didn’t even need much prep.

I did learn from MJ that he has never seen MM wear red. And many players see USC as the key game to circle.

I remember his first pre-game presser...he was going on about how he wasn't rebuilding, he wanted to win NOW. What a total joke that guy was.

Oh gee, you really disqualified yourself a long, long time ago to have a believable opinion on this subject.

I know leadership. I’ve studied leader language and behavior extensively. I’ve led high performance work teams.

MM is not a good leader.

Yawn.

And I’m sure your own personal bias lends no weight to your conclusion.

I doubt that.
Go back to my post after his speech at his first spring game. You remember that? Folks in the stands looking around like “what was that?”

He’s a good guy. Bless his heart. But he’s not a good leader.

Show me language and behavior that disputes my observation. I’m open to a conversation.
HCMM is a little colloquial, has some Southern Boy in him, but while watching "The Rise" last year I was impressed with his ability to communicate and inspire.

It’s lost on me. Especially in his ability to inspire on field performance in key situations (Utah), inability to close big with recruits, actions to recruit top-notch assistants.

Success comes from desire which, in team sports, is oreated by the ability to inspire.

See Steve Kerr. Master.

I agree - he's not great with the press, but one thing he seems to do well at is in the living room with recruit's parents. HCMM genuinely cares about his players - and his coaches, for that matter. I am, however, still concerned about him seemingly punching out late last year and wonder how that will impact his ability to motivate this season.

Regardless of all of the above, it boils down to wins - and he needs them this year.

Because he wants his boy Embree back?
I understand what Hawg is saying and can agree w him to a certain extent actually. I highly doubt Mac is as awkward with coaches and players as he is with the media, but his persona will also never remind anybody of Urban Meyer, Chris Petersen, Dabo Swinney, Tom Herman, etc.

Let's have Montez call plays against CSU then.

If a coach has to inspire you, find something else to do. You either want it or you don't. Inspiration is great and everything but they aren't out there with you.
