Coach Prime Introductory Press Conference Thread - LIVE at 1.30pm MT!

Yeah, having a coach walk into a meeting with players and tell them “we’ve already got a few positions taken care of”…I think that was hardest part for me.
In all fairness, these players aren't beating out Kevin Coleman in the slot, Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, Shane Hooks, Nyles Gaddy, and Cam Silmon-Craig at safety. I watched five Colorado games in full and while I do think the OL at Colorado is superior, Willis Patrick is more talented than all of them on both teams. Wilkerson is a better RB than all CU backs. The WR room at JSU is superior as well than again, it's loaded with 4 stars and the 3 stars who play are the real deal and getting NFL looks.

His level of recruiting is at a different level beyond even the best at this level.

Truth hurts sometimes. But they have to be aware that after going 1-11 with the lowest scoring offense and the worst run defense in the nation that there's no such thing as job security. If they didn't realize that, then I have to say I'm blown away by how low the expectations were and how much they were coddled.
they were to some extent coddled... transitioned to sanford who did all he could to get them to have fun and rally. winning wasn't the point.

i am ok with that and how it went.

expectations are higher as they should be and we're going to win. i am just going to thank the kids that did their best and worked hard. some of them are going to stick. just not nearly as many as i would have thought in a typical transition.

You really had no clue about Deion, did you? This is who he is. He literally tells the kids daily, I am recruiting your replacement, does it and actually cuts you but he's one of the best. He gives all kids a chance to prove themselves and even rewards walk ons who are elite workers and can execute.

When he says, Fast, tough, smart, discipline, with character, he means it.

I am realizing you guys have no clue what you signed up for. Deion is a hell of a coach. More of an CEO. Extremely hard worker. His focus is that his players are elite on and off the field. He's big on overall development. Has the kids train to speak to the media and public. How to carry yourself as a student. Be a leader. He really gives a damn. Way more than any coach I've had in my life by a mile.

He ranks his kids for ****’s sake.

I love him, but I’ll confess that I’m really uncomfortable with that.

Exactly the kind of coach CU needs and now it's happened finally. These aren't kids they are young men and it's time to step up or step out. You're not in highschool anymore you are one step away from the NFL!

1) I’m sorry that we stole him
2) Thank you for coming here
3) if you ever come here to watch a game, you will get many beers (if you want)

As anyone can attest when a change of leadership occurs at a place of employment disbelief is often the first reaction for many (and it can include high-performing employees as well). What is going on in the Champions Center far more resembles a hostile takeover of a failing company than the hiring of a new coach. It benefits all the parties involved to have those who are not on board with major changes moving on as quickly and gracefully as possible. The fact that Coach Prime emphasized being weary of the transfer portal for certain players at JSU and that his staff would be reaching out to players in his remarks after the SWAC Championship Game indicates that like any demanding but understanding boss he cares enough about the people under him to help them land on their feet.

1. I am Team Prime so I go where he goes. You didn't steal him, you gave him an opportunity at the biggest stage. That's a promotion but understand, a lot of HBCU fans won't see it that way. It's a lot more deeper for many of them.

2. Thank you accepting me with open arms. I like the quality of posters posting while lurking and I feel the same way as a poster.

3. Lol, thanks my friend, I am not a drinker but I appreciate the offer. Still up for a great time so I'll let you know if I am ever in beautiful Boulder.

Not sure if it was implied or not, but my feeling is that he would do the same for any of the current Buffs as well. I don't get the impression he had that meeting to be an asshole. That's our job! (Wait, we're not about to lose our jobs are we?)

Welcome to the B&G! FWIW I think a bunch of us have been devouring the JSU videos as fast as we can in the past few days, since we started to wonder if it was really happening. We may not have learned it all yet, but we're loving the first days of school!

You already made fun of @Liver so you’re good in most of our books.

Dear Women's Study Program Chair,

Are you insisting that an American representing a marginalized identity must comply with the linguistic rules that have historically been used to undermine the opportunities for his race - rather than allowing him to speak authentically in a way that most truly represents his lived experience?

I eagerly anticipate your response.
Uncle Ken for the newly started “Head of Football Community Relations”. !!!!

I'm confused. Are you the bandwagon fan or are we the bandwagon fans?

I am certain that members of his staff are talking with CU players in the same capacity. Good management makes it easy for those who have a different vision to leave and often helps to facilitate opportunities for those exiting. Deion Sanders is demanding as an individual but unlike a ton of people with that trait he walks the walk and has enough sense to not be petty.

it is quite clear to me that we are playing big boy football again and it has been a very long time--- like 20 years long.

thanks for joining us, seriously. if you are a long time follower of Prime, your insights are appreciated. that team meeting was brutal but a coach like that is exactly what i would have wanted back in the day. help me get better, tell me if i am not good enough, and don't **** around. that isn't a super modern approach and it is going to be a fun ride.

one thing that really did stand out to me watching that jsu game-- they fly around. a lot of the guys are smaller than p5 guys but they are moving at full speed.

and yeah, how do you know what you get in a coach until he shows up and coaches? dan ****ing hawkins came here with a great resume and all the talking heads said he was a home run.

prime feels so much different than that.

also, another thing that jumped out at me from the team meeting-- basically, a lot of you are going to be gone by the time i get back here from finishing with jsu. that was super interesting. he's got his guys there and they are going to be making some decisions.

team roster turnover in a big way.

For the love of all that’s good and pure, please stop calling him Deion. His preferred names are Prime, Coach, Coach Sanders, and Coach Prime.
I am so happy, I am not really thinking about "the love of all that's good and pure." I will call him whatever you want me too. Today isn't the day to correct any problems.... just live, breath, and take in all of the sights and sounds.
