$3m is enough to keep him in Fayettenam for a while.
Petrino called a Falcons staff meeting late Tuesday afternoon, a meeting which last about 10 seconds, sources said.
"He just said to us, 'Guys I've resigned, I'm going to Arkansas. I'm sorry. I'll be talking with you guys in the future.' And with that he turned and walked out the door. We haven't been told anything else," said one assistant coach.
At this point, the assistant coaches have not been told who will be coaching the team going forward.
Petrino did not address the Falcons following his resignation. Players are livid with the way Petrino left the team and several called his handling of the situation "classless."
I watched the press conference and have no respect for Petrino. He's just as bad as Saban IMO. What a joke.
I'll knock him for leaving Louisville in the first place, but if I was in that same situation in Atlanta I'd be getting the hell out of there too.
I agree, it's really a mess down there.
Well it looks like Petrino has redefined the standards for mercenary coaches. Leaving the Falcons after less than one year just ended his NFL coaching career permanently. I am sure this will all catch up to him one day. You don't bite the hand that feeds you like that. Well, Hogfan can enjoy the ride for the next 10-46 months, I have no doubt Petrino will do well, however long he hangs around.
I saw their 2009 schedule listed somewhere. Yikes.

Steve Fairchild to CSU, according to the other board.
LOL...maybe I should read the board before I post.
Why? None of the rest of us do.
Petrino ends his tenure with the Falcons with a 3-10 record. Coincidentally, that is also the career NFL coaching record of Lou Holtz, who left the Jets before the end of his first season, also to coach Arkansas.

Arky fans are taking a beating on their board. People are piling on saying Petrino was universally hated at Atlanta, Louisville and is just a shade above your common streetwalker. Pretty brutal. You'd think people would let the Hogfans enjoy their day in the sun.
It has to be. Think about it; He's leaving a job in the NFL that pays more to coach in a backwater college town in the middle of nowhere. I think that says more about how much it must suck in Atlanta than anything about how great Arkansas is.
Okie lite has lost their OC to So. Miss. Fedora was named HC today at S. Miss. Anybody have any idea who will take over as OC for Fedora?
heard it was down to homburg or derby :smile2:
Yeah, but he'll be one of the top 5-7 paid coaches in college and won't get another NFL look.
As bad as the Dolphins are, the Falcons franchise is just as bad.
:smile2:
Go Lions!
the lions don't have a bad franchise per say, they just have an ignorant GM, i honestly think my wife could run the team better than millen.
i'm hoping they lose out and WCF realizes he messed up with matt and looks in another direction, maybe he can borrow dave dombroski
Fedora (former OSU OC) formally announced HC at So. Miss. Sumlin (former OU OC)formally announced HC at Houston High. Jerry Kill, one of the CSU frontrunners named No. Illinois HC, resigning his post at So. Illinois. That seems kind of weird, is there a difference between No. and So. Illinois?
NIU is a step up in classification. Plus his pay was doubled. Seems like a pretty good move to me.
The Lions have more skill players. Martz has probably gotten all he can get out of Kitna. I think they are just a few pieces away from being really good.
The Dolphins are in a deep hole. Certainly they will have the first overall pick and they need a QB unless the new kid plays well (first game 2 weeks ago). Problem is that none of the QBs that should be in this draft have name recognition. Adrian McPherson is probably the best player. But Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown are already in the backfield. They might take Dorsey though and they'll need a WR to replace Chambers and Welker and to compliment Ginn.
They got problems.
NIU is DI? I did not know that. Well then I suppose it makes sense then.
