College Football News, Rumor & Humor

I disagree. If you don't have enough players to play, you forfeit. Masking and social distancing are irrelevant here--until a team's failure to implement them leads to a COVID outbreak. As for quarantining vaccinated players, the CDC says that "If you’ve had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, you should get tested 3-5 days after your exposure, even if you don’t have symptoms. You should also wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until your test result is negative. You should isolate for 10 days if your test result is positive."
Those are recommendations. Is the conference mandating those protocols? How many players do you need to field a team? If a vaccinated player tests positive, does the entire team just keep practicing and going about business as usual until 3-5 days passes when they can all get tested or does everyone have to isolate until negative tests 3-5 days later?

Masking and social distancing aren't irrelevant. Last year, they managed to get 6 games in with very strict testing, masking, and social distancing requirements. With essentially none of that happening now, but the same rules being implemented, this has the chance to be a bigger ****show of a season.

I just wish Nebraska would quit ducking NDSU. Or maybe it is NDSU that thinks Nebraska isn't worth their time.

It's going to be interesting to see if there are going to be more FCS upsets of FBS teams this year due to FCS teams playing this spring.

Week 1

Jacksonville State @ UAB: Not sure if that is going to happen since JSU's starting QB went down in the FCS playoffs and UAB is opening a brand new stadium.

Eastern Washington @ UNLV: I think EWU might be favored in this one and the Eagles have the top returning QB playing in a climate controlled stadium. I think EWU wins in this case.

South Dakota @ KU: I am not sure if KU has a full 85 scholarship team at this point but you shouldn't count out USD in this case since they play in the rugged MVFC.
KU fans can point to CU's HCKD as a beacon of hope but they probably don't know that CU has had a competitive team in the P12 while it has been awhile since KU has had a competitive B12 team. I think USD has a good shot at an upset in this case.

South Dakota State @ CSU: Before SDSU's starting QB went down with a torn knee in the FCS championship game, I had SDSU as an automatic win over CSU. If the Jacks can run the ball like they did in the FCS CG, they very well could win in Ft. Collins. I think SDSU pulls it out but I'm not as confident as I was last spring.

Holy Cross @ UConn: UConn didn't play last season while Holy Cross went to the FCS playoffs. UConn might drop football after this one.

Montana State @ Wyoming: Not necessarily buying this since MSU didn't play last season.

Week 2

NC A&T @ Duke: A&T is a HBCU that left its HBCU conference for the Big South since it thinks it outgrew that HBCU conference. If Duke loses this one, Duke will announce the retirement of their HC effective the end of this season.

North Dakota @ Utah State: USU has a new head coach from Arkansas State. If UND can run the ball and connect in the passing game, they got a real shot in Logan.

Kennesaw State @ Georgia Tech: The past comes to visit the present. KSU has the old GT triple option offense but I have to wonder about the KSU QB situation since their QB went down near the end of the season if not in the playoffs.

Week 3

Albany @ Sycrause: Are you kidding me? That kind of talk makes it sound like things are worse than bad in the Carrier Dome.

Chattonga @ Kentucky: Not going to happen since UK is a SEC school right? I don't see it happening either.

Delwarence @ Rutgers: The Blue Hens impressed me in the FCS playoffs with how physical they were. I think they got a shot.

Florida A&M @ South Florida: I'm going to rule this out since A&M didn't play last spring.

SC State @ NMSU: It's easy to look at NMSU's spring performance and write them off. Truth to be told they were playing everyone to give their backups experience and I think that will be enough to get the Aggies past SC State.

Week 11

Maine @ UMass: UMass will announce they are dropping back down to FCS after this game.

Same rules as the Pac 12, but what hasn't been mentioned is what the actual guidelines are for "being impacted by COVID".

All this is going to do is push teams to not disclose positives and/or play players who've tested positive as long as they don't show symptoms. Guarantee 80% of college programs try to cheat this system.

Stats are about the same as Lewis. Recruited by roughly the same teams.
why is this kid presumed to be so much better? Why is A&M going to run up and down the field all over us?

SEC & ESPN hype machine that doesn't know there is college football west of Texas & Oklahoma.
