College Football October 10th

Huge turn of events in Chapel Hill, VT goes for it on 4th and 3 near midfield and doesn't convert (looked like PI though). Howell promptly completes long TD pass and instead of VT only being down 7 or 10 UNC is up 35-14 at the half

With all the talent in Texas how do the Whorens keep ending up with blah QBs? Elinger is surrounded by talent but he is the textbook exampe of a JAG.

He leads CFB in TD passes
He has a load of talent around him, plays in a conference that doesn't play defense, and has been in the offense multiple years.

He is reasonable mobile but has taken sacks today that weren't necessary, has missed wide open receivers multiple times, and missed some reads.

He isn't a bad QB but he isn't outstanding. Coming from a state that has multiple QBs starting for other programs and multiple NFL starters Texas shouldn't be starting a guy who is "not bad."

OU had a very good drive with a settled down Rattler. OU 31-17.
He made some good throws to keep the drive going but they were smart and gave him mostly stuff that gave him high chances for success.

OU pretty much ate up the entire quarter. Texas needs to have some offensive success if for no other reason than to give that defense a rest.

You might want to go back and look at his numbers, Mtn.

This is one of the oddest takes I have seen in awhile.

UT went three and out. Let's see if OU has another good drive to finish the Longhorns off.

Why are these CFB programs even limiting the amount of fans in the stands at all? What difference does it make if they‘re going to allow 80k vs 100k? If you’re going to allow super spreader events to take place, might as well get all the monies from it

Ehlinger overthrew a WR on the most recent drive that UT needed to maintain.

And you might want to look at his numbers yourself since he leads the country in TD passes before today's games.

Did you just see that series, representative of who he is as a QB.

They couldn't afford a 3 and out. First down wasn't successful. Second down an out pattern completed but where he threw the ball killed any hope of YAC, Third and manageable (about 3) he goes deep and misses badly a WR who was 5 yards open. Result, a punt and OU back on the field.

I am in no way saying he is a bad QB but despite the stats he isn't close to elite either. He has a talented team around him and has managed to do what with it? Barring a big comeback they will be 2-2. This is a program that aims much higher (even if the end up mediocre more often than not.

I tend not to base an entire judgement on one game.

His career stats ARE elite. He is basically the one guy preventing them from being a 5-6 win team the last couple seasons.

By and large, the vast majority of issues at Texas have been on defense under Herman.

Minority opinion, Mtn.

There are a lot of QBs who could have taken last years Texas team to 8 wins (including wins against Louisiana Tech, Rice, and Kansas.)

Again I'm not saying he is a bad QB. He is better than what many if not most P5 programs have. Considering that Texas is the flagship program in that state and their ability to recruit he isn't what you would expect them to have taking snaps.

You good with next UT QB recruit?

Coming out, he was a stud. #4 DT. They should have landed one above him?
