I was going to put this in either the CFP thread or the Utah game thread, but I didn't want this to get buried and feel like we should be offended. You know what? I'm actually glad it's like this, as it allows the team to go under the radar like they have been, seemingly getting the most respect from the CFP selection committee.

Not one national major publication bowl projection that I could find projects CU into the Rose Bowl. For the projections updated after yesterday's games, that means they either think we'll lose to Utah (10 1/2 point favorites in Las Vegas - Wynn), or will lose the Rose Bowl, and the committee will go against traditional methods and pass up a division winner for a team that finished behind us in the conference standings (don't ask me what CBS Sports is thinking). In case you're wondering, no, we weren't left out of any of the Rose Bowl projections because any of these sites had us getting into the CFP.

The Rose Bowl is required to pick the highest ranked PAC team if the conference champion goes to the playoff, so the question is if USC jumps us if we win the South, but lose the CCG.
 
I have a fusker pal and he really is a decent guy, that I was speaking with at my athletic club today. I was wearing a Buff Under Armour shirt and he gave me a hard time that I never wear CU gear until now "since they're winning." I had to remind him I wear CU gear regularly. Then he said "you guys should land in a decent mid-tier bowl" Biting my tongue, I calmly reminded him of our ranking and the potential for a playoff berth. He scoffed and said there's NO WAY you guys get into the playoff. At that point I simply walked and went to my yoga class.
 
Even the PAC XII network had nothing to say about them yesterday other than to be disappointed that they won.

While the highest rating is the top of the list of consideration, it's not that simple. Here's how the NCAA defined the Rose Bowl selection process for a similar situation in the Big Ten:

* Rose Bowl Game has sole discretion on replacement team, and will generally select highest-rated available team, but will take into consideration final College Football Playoff rankings, head-to-head competition, division champions and most recent Rose Bowl Game appearances.

However you look at it, there's definitely a lack of respect for CU, and I'm excited about that and hopes that the team makes it difficult for almost everyone based on their current expectations.

Was telling my GF exactly this today! I'm worried that If Colorado beats Utah and loses to Washington/state that the ass hats of the world will find a way to put USC ahead of us, this is my biggest worry. I ****ing hate USC and this is why I broke my god damn phone when we lost that game. There is no team (besides Nebraska) I enjoy watching lose more. All we need to do is win, **** everyone else. Take the ball and shove it right up Utah and the state of washingtons ass and then give everyone a giant middle finger.
 
This year feels an awful lot like 2001. We were getting very little respect then as well, which likely was the reason we didn't make the championship game despite killing the Nubs and winning the B12.
 
I like that we are still under the radar. Please do not take that first sentence as me saying that I don't think we deserve more respect, because we do! But, instead I think that the lack of respect helps carry our team throw practices and meetings each week. We need to stay humble and hungry and fight our way to the top. Let's go out and earn their respect this weekend against the Utes.

If USC wins at Notre Dame and we lose 1 game, USC will pass us in the CFP standings. That's a given and part of the reason for the OP. They also beat us head to head, which is the strongest case.
 
Hard to imagine any scenario where CU jumps USC for Rose Bowl consideration.

If CU wins the PAC 12 south USC has no business getting a better bowl than Colorado regardless of head to head. But I don't make the decision unfortunately haha
 
I really don't think this team is thriving off the lack of respect (which I don't think is the case anyway). They have a different motivator about personal and team performance, and reaching for a very specific goal

It'd be nice if winning a division counted for more than just getting to play the conference championship game. Especially when a team that could jump you is in the same division.
