Hello Colorado Fans, I come in peace. Congratulations on your big win over the Huskers. Coming out west with around ten family members and friends and looking for tailgating advice. Which lots are the best and how many hours before kickoff do the lots open and the party begins? At UNH the lots open four hours before kickoff. Any general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance, look forward to meeting your fan base!!

General info can be found here :https://www.allbuffs.com/threads/cu-gameday-stadium-parking-tailgates-hotels-events-etc.118811/

402, 414, 416, 418, 470 are the surface level lots for tailgating. All lots open 6 hours before kickoff (9:00am MT)

Farrand Field, which is surrounded by lots 314 and 346, is where the most hardcore tailgaters are and where the band warms up/rehearses on game day.

Make sure you are into the stadium well before kickoff, you do not want to miss Ralphie running.

Pace yourself with the alcohol, altitude affects more than just your breathing.

Have fun. It’s a great venue. Enjoy the area.

Awesome.

It is supposed to be very hot and sunny. The sun is more intense at this altitude so definitely wear hats and sunscreen. The altitude as Shldr2Shldr says can make for all sorts of fun if you are not aware of what it can do. Please enjoy the city and game!

Don't have high hopes that this thread doesn't get sidetracked eventually and all sorts of topics get mentioned. We are like cats that Bufnik has to herd ALL THE TIME.

I had caught the 0% chance of precipitation, but not the temps previously

Yeah, no wind, 3pm kick. That's the equivalent of a scorcher for Boulder. Should start cooling off a bit not long after kickoff and finish 10 degrees cooler.

Is Mother’s breakfast place still on Broadway? It was next to the drafting/art store adjacent to the Hill

Echoing what's already been said because it's true- temps this week are above seasonal averages, mid-afternoon kick-off, it's gonna be warm with intense sun. Hydrate well in the morning and wear a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

Unlike some schools, who have stadiums built adjacent to campus with parking lots surrounding the field, CU's stadium remains in the same place it was built in 1924. The net result is that it is largely in the middle of the campus, surrounded by various buildings. Most available parking lots on campus turn into tailgating areas, the closer to the stadium, the more frivolity and fun.

For example, I usually park tailgate in lot 470 near the Law School, then proceed up to the IPF as kickoff gets closer. It's bit of a trek to the stadium, but it's fun to feel the intensity build the closer you get. Ralphie is usually out in the alumni tailgate area a while before the game.

The new indoor practice facility and adjacent practice field are fun to visit, and you can buy beer in the inside... I think you can bring your own onto the practice field, but no glass. Someone can maybe confirm that. The Balch field house, to the west of the stadium, is the old basketball gym and is also a just a horde of people drinking before the game. They usually have another game playing on the screen in there, and you can buy beer. Both Balch and the IPF are good ways to get out of the sun.

Don't miss Pearl Street, including the "stampede" the night before, where the players and band walk down the street. Usually starts at 7pm at the Boulder County Courthouse. Eldorado Canyon State Park and the Peak-to-Peak highways are easy ways to get a Colorado outdoors "feel" without venturing too far.

You'll have fun.

The IPF is no longer open to the public on game days.

lots of good advice here so I'll only add to before or after:
1) Hit The Sink on the hill. 10-15 minute walk from stadium and a Boulder institution. More for the younger set so if you're bringing Nana and PawPaw may not be the spot though they'd be welcome
2) If you're bringing an older crowd then my favorite spot is West End Tavern. Away from the crazy of campus, great cocktails and food.
3) as people have said but it is worth repeating until it is burned in your brain, the sun up here is rough please bring some sunscreen and a hat. Also as mention the altitude will hit you. water water water. In fact when you check into your hotel ask for humidifiers. most of them have them and they'll make for a better night and much better second day.

man...its amazing the difference in the way we treat nubs versus everyone else.

Honestly, it seems like the September sun is more intense than the July/August sun, probably because of lower humidity, and Folsom will get toasty if there's no clouds or wind.

I'd hydrate the hell out of myself (with water, lol) the night before and the morning of, especially coming from lower elevation.

Added lot 440 (Pretty cool location right near the Business Field.) and Euclid parking garage.
I've been parking in the Euclid Parking Garage before heading to Sackygate. It is very convenient and my car stays cool out of the sun. I'm there early enough that I'm able to park near the entrance, back in to my spot, and not get jammed up when the game is over.

(and I didn't just say that with my out loud voice....dammit!)

I have parked just about everywhere on or around the campus over the years. Regent PG is not bad as long as you don't get there to late and wind up on top. I have paked over by the Wendy's, a church charges like $10 and it's not that far of a walk. I have parked over by Scott Carpenter park - free - but a pretty good hike. Parked all over the campus in various lots. I usually just whip into Regents and call it a day - easy in easy out.
