Colorado-New Hampshire Tailgating

Hello Colorado Fans, I come in peace. Congratulations on your big win over the Huskers. Coming out west with around ten family members and friends and looking for tailgating advice. Which lots are the best and how many hours before kickoff do the lots open and the party begins? At UNH the lots open four hours before kickoff. Any general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance, look forward to meeting your fan base!!

Welcome! Looking forward to a great game this Saturday! Hopefully you'll have some time before and after the game to explore Boulder and maybe take a trip up to Rocky Mountain National Park! Have a great stay!

OK, these fine Allbuffer's aren't showing you the proper hospitality.

Here is how we do it in Boulder:

So you say you're coming from sea level?
1. The night before the game be sure and have a good strong craft beer or two at one of the many local breweries....and don't hesitate to stop by a distillery or three on your way back to your hotel.
2. If you start to get a little bit of a headache, just take some ibuprofen and have another beer. Its all good and that beer will help you sleep.

If you wake up on game day:
1. Eat lots of really heavy foods in the morning. You'll need that energy hiking up the hill.
2. Be sure the kids smack Ralphie on the hind quarters...she loves that.
3. When you see CU fans at tailgates, be sure and talk about how Nebraska got completely screwed and how number 44 should be in jail. You'll start lots of interesting conversations.
4. Hats are over rated accessories, especially in that heat...just wear as little clothing as possible and bring something to fan yourself with.
5. You're already tan, you don't need sunscreen. I mean it isn't like you're getting rays reflected off the water.
6. Don't drink water! I mean, the bathroom facilities at Folsom are really lacking, so if you're going to hydrate, stick with whatever bottles you purchased at those distilleries the night before.
7. What, you say you're dizzy? Not to worry, its just all the smoke from the green weed candy stores hitting you a little.

After the game: (Well, if you make it to the end of the game)
1. Go the hell home.
2. You're friends are going to ask why you're so red.
3. You're friends are going to ask you why you smell like pee.
4. Don't come back.....

Edit....wait, did I do that right?

I am also coming out for the first time. I coached Fisher out here in California. I wanted to catch a tailgate/game experience before he graduated. I figured first home game plus a 2-0 start will make it that much more electric.

I have parked just about everywhere on or around the campus over the years. Regent PG is not bad as long as you don't get there to late and wind up on top. I have paked over by the Wendy's, a church charges like $10 and it's not that far of a walk. I have parked over by Scott Carpenter park - free - but a pretty good hike. Parked all over the campus in various lots. I usually just whip into Regents and call it a day - easy in easy out.

Wendy’s closed and parking has gone up to $20, but otherwise solid advice. The walk across campus is great. Find all of the planets in the to scale solar system.

Jets5151---Since you are actually flying out to Boulder, you are obviously a big fan of UNH. Pro Tip: Wherever you are seated in Folsom Field, you can always walk to directly behind the visitors' bench and sit within 10 feet of the players on the bench and 25 feet from inbounds. There is only minor enforcement from the usher people. Act like you own the seat.

I'm staying at the venerable Rodeway Inn after the game, which shares a surface parking lot with the Dark Horse.
That place is now a total dump.

And I still stay there occasionally precisely because it shares a parking lot with the Dark Horse.

It's a shame. Before the St Julian opened, it was somewhat of a debate whether the Broker Inn or the Hotel Boulderado was the best hotel in Boulder.

11th Street south of Aurora on the Hill has free all-day street parking. Very nice 10-15 minute walk to Folsom from there through the heart of student residential pregame parties, the Hill businesses, and the oldest and prettiest portion of campus. Just follow the crowd.

Rodeway/Broker is a somewhat charming dump with clean beds and bathrooms that I got for $88 and it is within easy walking distance to campus. A dated mini-museum of CU sports memorabilia greets you in the lobby. Free breakfast! Cosmo's Pizza, Dark Horse, Sprouts, a liquor store, and a bunch of other other stuff is in the same parking lot. Pretty much Boulder Paradise, as far as I'm concerned.

i still like to stay at the boulderado. it is has a great vibe to it.
I am not all in to fufu unless it is just me and the wife on an extended vacation, so I would stay at the Boulderado over the St. Julien. Plus I beat the Galaxians game in Catacombs in 1990. I went over 1M points and still had over 20 lives left. My buddy was working two girls while my play went on and on. He ultimately checked me out of the way and let the girls crash my game.

He made the right call. It was a crazy night. Both of them were "friends" with my girlfriend at the time, but somehow, it just never came up afterwards.

lol...not a chance. But all our kids at the high school and I did enjoy it.

Love your response. If you have any more like Nick, tell ‘em to check out CU.

Your guy made a great first impression & more than a few since.

Thanks for stopping by here. Hope you enjoy the heck out of Boulder.
