Colorado v Stanford- October 13, 2023 - 8pm MT, ESPN

Those QB RPOs are our best running plays. It's the RB draws out of shotgun that's going nowhere for us. I hate RB draws out of shotgun, those aren't the best to run in the NFL much less college. When you got a QB with the ball handling of Sanders, you should be so much better at the run game. The lack of under center runs drives me crazy about this damn offense.
Shedeur does not have good ball skills. His fakes are weak, he cannot sell it, he does not carry them out long enough.
Stretch run, play action is devastating and we do nothing but shotgun RPO with pretty painful long meshes.
He needs to get Manning up there to help him work on it

Deion got out-coached.
Lewis got way too damn cute.
Kelly got out-classed entirely.

I don't know where to begin with this loss, man. How often will Stanford call a simple slant and beat you with it before you change something? Drags and slants are killing us.

Deion refused to go for it multiple times. I get he is old school, but in this game, you must be new school and utterly analytical until the game calls you to go back to old-school football. Unfortunately, our OLine is so terrible we can't do that and just run the ball like we should. That's why Sean Lewis was getting cute. His play calling of all these stupid and unnecessary plays will quickly put us into losing situations.

Also, Charles Kelly has to go. Completely.

Frustrating loss. I hope this humbles the team and staff completely so we can get back on track after the bye week.

McChesney actually said the same thing about not carrying out his fakes.

I disagree. I am not sure we are watching the same player.

Let me change that. I agree on fakes. But his ball handling is pretty stout in terms of exchanges. In terms of selling, it's weak. I don't consider that ball handling. I consider that selling the read which he doesn't do well. He's not a RPO QB.

It's funny that his ball handling was what he got complimented on tonight lol.

The defense was gassed.

The offensive playcalling didn't keep the defense off the field when that should have been our focus. We didn't play time management till the end and we did it poorly.

The offense is the easiest to blame because we have the personnel.

On defense, we don't
46 points in a half. The defense was on the field. That historically pathetic performance was by the defense. 43 pts should easily win against Stanford. The defense is straight trash and the DC is in over his head. He has consistently shown he is incapable of making changes on the fly. The defense is at least as bad as last year, if not worse. Fortunately, the offense is exceptional and puts up big numbers. The defense is 🗑

Just got back from the game...team was shell shocked by the end of the 3rd quarter and that incredible TD catch by 13 in OT just sucked life out of the Stadium. Alot to learn from this one. We're still in an incredible position that I would never imagine in a million years. I love this team, go buffs!

It wasn't. That's why it's weird. He has to know that they get it at the 35
They kicked from 15 yards shorter because of a penalty. So they had a chance to do a little squib toward the sideline and maybe get a good bounce. Going out of bounds gave it to them at the 20.

Would love to put a compilation together of my thoughts but to pissed and angry and disgusted. Will send you something another day to discuss it

We're in an incredible position? What? You mean in recruiting or for the rest of the season? Because this season is clearly over

Why would they get it at the 20? The penalty was enforced when they kicked from the 50

Edit: it's 3:15, I'm probably the idiot. Doesnt matter anyway

Our issue is personnel. What do you want to do? We can simplify the scheme. Maybe that's the solution. That's what Arizona State had to do. When you got so many new players, it's hard to do a lot especially if they just lack the size.

My guy. It’s been explained ad naseum. The penalty for kicking the ball out of bounds is that the receiving team gets it 30 yards from the kickoff spot. So normally, when a team kicks off from their own 35, the receiving team gets it at their 35. In this case, the kick was from the 50 so the penalty gave Stanford the ball on their own 20, same as a touchback would have

I didn't see that explained and I didn't know that. Thanks for the explanation. I'm going to run into the woods and dig a hole now.

Our D has some strengths (they are nowhere near bad like last year's was bad), but one of those strengths is creating turnovers. I don't think our D got any turnovers tonight (am I mistaken? I don't THINK they did) and that was a killer (especially at the end of the game where a turnover would have ended the game basically). I don't want say we have a classic "bend but don't break" defense, because it breaks quite a bit. But the turnovers make up for a lot of yards given up. The yardage surrendering is particularly glaring though when you don't get the turnovers to offset some of it.

After watching a 1-4 Stanford team just pull off what they did against us (on the road no less), why would you assume we couldn't do the same with enough teams on the rest of our schedule to go bowling? Seems very defeatist.

Im not a CU fan, but not a rival either. I Just watched the game and post game press conference! I have been a life long Prime fan, but he lost my respect in the press conference! He threw the team under the bus! He refused to truly accept responsibility! Shadur has really impressed me all year on the field! He is the real deal! He made me more of a fan with the way he handled his portion of the press conference! He took accountability, and maintained his position as a member of the team. After that press conference, I think Shadur may be smarter and more mature than Deion! WOW!! I'm a Shadur fan now for sure! Best of luck for the Buffs!!
