Colorado v UCLA - October 28, 2023 - 5.30pm MT, ABC

UCLA has played Coastal Carolina, SDSU and NC Central in their first 3 games where they gave up an average of 10 ppg. Their next three were Utah, Washington State and Oregon State where they gave up 14, 17 and 36, respectively (22/game). Utah's offense doesn't scare anybody, but their defensive performance at home against Wazzu is the most impressive, until you consider that Arizona, an average defense, just held Wazzu to 6 points IN Pullman.

UCLA ranks 37th in Pass Defense at 205 yards allowed/game
UCLA ranks 5th in Run Defense at 76 yards allowed/game

This conference is truly a week to week conference and there are no gimmies (except Stanford, that should have been a gimmie). Buffs are fortunate that they have two weeks to get healthy, learn from their mistakes, prepare for UCLA and that their strengths can take advantage of UCLA's weakness.
Basically anyone can beat, anyone

Holy Crap, that means almost mostly Buffs fans in a massive iconic building.
The capacity is much larger than 67,000?
The World Cup Final had 92,000+, so why call it sold out?
Sell tickets up top for $20 and see how many new Buffs fans can sit up there
I guess they need to take more tarps off.

The Rose Bowl has listed capacity of 92k (reduced from ivern100k). That's bull junk to out tarps over sections and call it a sell out at 67k

But I'll take it. CU is going to sell out every game this regular season.
FWIW, I think UCLA is the perfect program to develop something with in ongoing scheduling for all sports. The fan interest in this game makes me more of a believer in building a 2nd tier rivalry.

If I was UCLA Id tell you to go **** yourself and find someone else to play in LA….

After their most profitable home game of their season and what will likely be their biggest tv exposure?
Rock solid idea without a doubt
Home and Away with UCLA is a solid option for the long term with Recruiting, Alumni, and TV Exposure.
Get on it RG
Tell you what, Let's swap these games around:
Send North Dakota to Hawaii and Bring UCLA to Boulder

Could this maneuver be done? Give North Dakota State $1 Million and pay for their trip to Hawaii
Tough starting game, but we benefit from bigger games.

i have been to several games at the rose bowl including a big CU WIN awhile back.

the stadium is huge and the acoustics are not favorable for the home team. it is hard to get it really loud and the seats are not right on top of the field like folsom. original capacity was over 100k and they never ever filled it up so they reduced it to a max of like 90k. usc does the same type of thing for their home games too but i have seen far far more people at usc than any rose bowl game. then, on top of that, they both tarp over whole sections and cap the number of seats so they can call it a sellout but they do open up more seats when demand is high.

the whole thing is kinda dumb.

the rose bowl is old and hugely inconvenient to get to from anywhere that isn't pasadena. it is hot and smoggy that far inland and entrance and exit to the game is a nightmare. i have tailgated with die hard ucla people and their method is that they go super early in the morning, set up tents and misters and stuff and then they do not break down their setup until hours after the game. they loved all those extra hours with me celebrating a CU win and making fun of the bruins.

the actual rose bowl game is fun. but ucla games at the rose bowl are pretty mediocre. not having a stadium anywhere even close to their campus sucks for them.

i am not going--- i would much rather fly to folsom and all that entails than try to make my way to pasadena.

the coliseum is so much better-- yeah it is an old **** hole too but the students can walk there and it does get loud. and it is less smoggy slightly than pasadena.

i hate visiting pasadena and cannot imagine having to live there but everyone is different.

you should all go and experience it at least once. just try to get hammered enough that you can pass out after the game and wait for the evil traffic to subside.

The Rose Bowl was probably the most disappointing game day experience that I can remember as a traveling Buff fan, and I was at the 2002 game, which was a big upset in our favor.

Lame crowd - no tailgating to speak of - we literally parked on a golf course fairway - fencing between sections to keep you from moving (Do they still have those?)

I think someone needs to ask Prime whether he'd rather play ND State or UCLA in game 1 next year.

the idea of a golf course allowing parking is astonishing to me. I'm not a golfer, but my perception is that courses take their turf care really seriously.

I'm still in shock that we were stupid enough to schedule ****ing North Dakota State. Good God...

Michigan does the same thing. Hundreds of cars parked on the university golf course across the street from the stadium for every home game. I thought it was bizarre when I experienced it (on a wet day no less), but I guess it all makes sense economically. I think they charged $75 per vehicle at Michigan.

Not ****ing North Dakota State. Schedule Northern Colorado. Schedule Bum****, Nebraska. Not a team that has won six straight against FBS opponents and is a damn juggernaut.
Oh, thanks Goose. I misunderstood your post.

??? Good teams have commonly scheduled one FCS game all the time.

Saw this firsthand in 94 and 97. Wonder if they even use the course in the fall.

My comment was tongue in cheek.

I agree. But thats now, this year. I think the Prime hype probably does extend into the next season or two. Maybe longer if Prime drops a 10 win season soon.

But anyway.

UCLA is about to start playing a 9 conference game schedule. So they could be dropping/rescheduling one of their three OOC games (will the Buffs be in the same dilema soon?) or will they play a 12 game schedule? Anyway, Im not sure where or if they can or would fit us in. They open the season against UGa twice (ouch) and the LSU is the 2nd game once.

Dude. UCLA has been playing a 9 conference game schedule for a lot of years now and 12 game schedules are the norm in CFB.
