Tell me you are insecure with your changing place in the world without telling me you're insecure with your changing place in the world.
Oh that's it! You are right. This newfangled world scares me. I better justify my existence to the idots on All Buffs.
Mommy says you have a choice of a Capri Sun or orange slices when you get out of the basement.

My favorite part about these boomer arguments about how other generations need "safe spaces" and "orange slices" is that they were the generation that started doing that because they couldn't handle that their child wasn't the bestest most specialist star in the world.

God I love this generation.

The blindness is the best part. Complaining about how ****ty the kids they raised are.

It's remarkable how little self awareness there is.

GenX/Millenials were kids. They weren't the ones in charge of whether or not there were participation trophies.

i think we have a good chance to beat ucla. we were getting really dinged up and don't of course have the depth to weather a lot of banged up starters. the bye should help. and, if our staff is competent, and i do believe they are the best staff we have had in forever, then they will look within and correct a lot of the mistakes.

if this were in Boulder, i think we win it pretty easily. the rose bowl is usually a crypt of empty seats for ucla but the crowd is going to be decently sized. still if we are going to steal a road win over a higher regarded opponent, this is a really good chance.

****, I didn't even keep my participation trophies.

Now the one I got for setting a school record for number of fights started in basketball games in one year? That bad boy is still on my mantle.

I sense a lot of parental issues from the youngsters. Don't take it out on us because you didn't get a pony.

i hate to participate in these convos in a football thread but there are some interesting books out there about the myth of american exceptionalism and how the coddling of the american youth has ****ed things up. the ability to track your child's every move and the generational addiction to screen time along with the complete destruction of free play and autonomous decision making all came after the boomers, but they set the path.

my kid cracked his mother's iPhone code at age 2 by watching the pattern. this kind of thing came along after the boomers were mostly grand parents.

things are usually not as bad or as good as the last data point one is looking at to make decisions. every karl darrell team here is of course the exception to this rule.

CU can win this game. the stanford game was a total breakdown in coaching and execution along with some crappy luck. it is one data point.

Boomers were the ones who coddled kids. That’s the point.

the level of coddling, gate keeping, and guarantees of soft landings are infinitely more pervasive now. free range kids do not exist in material numbers. yes, the boomer gen paved the way for all this, but the tools of control are at a whole new level now.

personally i think these generational debates are mostly stupid and counterproductive. there are no real clear lines on what a generation is or even conclusive ways to establish a gen's alleged identity and mannerisms. everyone owns their own ****.

tech and social media have been far more destructive of what used to be considered social norms than blaming it on grandparents, or parents, or whatever.

everyone owns their own ****.

Gen Xers started that. You’re wrong.

I don't think that's generally true; I think they were generally absentee parents. And **** you for making me defend Boomers.
Helicopter Parents.

Leave the kids alone (latchkey kids), while coming hard at schools, coaches, etc with unreasonable expectations to make their kids feel special & kept safe which were backed up by threats of lawsuits.

Boomers were such incompetent parents they had to have the news remind them that they had children. I didn’t believe this when my mom told me but there are clips of it:

The helicopter parenting is probably a reaction to the neglect they experienced from boomer parents.

This game worries me. CU comes out tight thinking about the stanford game. ucla has a legit DL and can run the ball. Lack of experience at the QB position is their weak point, but we don't know how to pressure.
I think we lose this game.

This is exactly how a confident person who is secure in their social status would react.

Isn’t there a neighborhood kid standing too close to your lawn you should be yelling at?
Hey Gen X-ers, go find another 100 things to be miserable about. We’d like to help you but you’re just too boring. Hint: That half empty glass ain’t ever gettin better. You chose this.

i picture this when the stale boomers doomed the world stuff bubbles up. drill sergeant could have fixed an entire generation of boomers or permanently ****ed them up. it would have been much more interesting to see the outcomes.
