Dunno why you're giving up on McCaskill and he certainly is not just a body when he's backThat was my point - they added some bodies at RB. I understand the quandary. With SS at QB, you're going to lean hard towards the pass.

McCaskill is going to be great. Maybe next game will be the game he makes a statement. Can’t wait to see it because it’s gonna happen at some point.Dunno why you're giving up on McCaskill and he certainly is not just a body when he's back
Just watched this video of Miller's highlights from yesterday. I forgot that his first catch comes with 7 minutes to go in the third quarter, and CU down 41-14. A true freshman entered the game with his team losing by 27 points against the #8 team in the country, and he willed them back into the game. Incredible competitiveness and drive.
Man, if he was just able to break that one at 48-34 with over 9 minutes left... so close.

No. Deferring to the second half is deferring choice to the second half. If you win the toss and elect to Kickoff, the other team will have the choice in the second half and they will choose to receive, thus receiving both kickoffs.I was wondering during the game why teams defer so much on the opening kickoff. 99 times out of 100, the team that deferred asks to receive in the second half, which is exactly what would happen if you chose to kick in the first half. So essentially, by choosing to defer, all you're doing is choosing to kick the ball to start the game.
Back before deferring was a thing, everyone took the ball. It just seems like we've decided that the 1% of the time when you might worry about going into the wind in the second half or whatever is worth starting the game on defense. Maybe I'm just old school, but just give me the ball.
If you choose to kick the other team will receive the ball in the first half and choose to receive the ball in the second half. You are deferring to get your choice of kicking or receiving in the second half but the key is that a decision is made for both halves.I was wondering during the game why teams defer so much on the opening kickoff. 99 times out of 100, the team that deferred asks to receive in the second half, which is exactly what would happen if you chose to kick in the first half. I was not aware that the other team gets to choose. At the same time, that would be weird to choose to kickoff. I saw that in the old Big 8 days when there was no deferring and you had those stadiums that were open on one if not both ends and the winds would be blowing 25 mph or more, but that was actually choosing which way to go, not to actually kick off.If you win the toss and elect to Kickoff, the other team will have the choice in the second half and they will choose to receive, thus receiving both kickoffs.
If my team has a potent offense, I want the ball first. Score a TD and out the opponent down 7-0 from the start; huge emotional edge
Otherwise, I want it first in the second half.
Just the emotional driven opinion of a non-technical fan, not based on stats or modeling.
I typically like my team to receive the second half kickoff, but in the Buffs case, I think they need to put pressure on the opponents with their best unit. Can’t have opponents going up two scores before SS touches the ball more than 3 snapsI was not aware that the other team gets to choose. At the same time, that would be weird to choose to kickoff. I would have preferred to take the ball yesterday. Get the better group out there to start. At the same time, the offense was **** in the first quarter, so it probably wouldn't have made much difference.
I said the exact same to the two in the row in front of us as they were leaving. I could tell from their facial expression change that it hit the mark.Just as an aside, to the USC fan I said "Have fun never winning the Big Ten" to on our way out.
Yes, it was petty, and no, I'm not sorry.
Hoping he can get healthy and get on the field.Dunno why you're giving up on McCaskill and he certainly is not just a body when he's back
I don't think I thought "**** USC" once during the whole game. And Riley was likable in his post game interview. For me, this is the most likable USC team I can remember.
Or if Weaver is able to make the catch two or three plays later. So close on both.Man, if he was just able to break that one at 48-34 with over 9 minutes left... so close.
I'm thinking it right nowI don't think I thought "**** USC" once during the whole game.
Also we now have a niece that attends USC so maybe we've softened up to them a bit?
Anyone ask him why?Shedeur did. He checked into a lot of those runs
The quote is somewhere in the thread, but he essentially said he didn't like the look and checked to runs. He admitted he needs to be more aware of the clock.Anyone ask him why?
He said he needs to make sure all 11 are on the same page to execute the play and he needs to be the one who has everyone on the same page. Sounds like a mixture of leadership but also not trusting the personnel to execute. A part of that is on everyone, including Shedeur even if he took the bulletThe quote is somewhere in the thread, but he essentially said he didn't like the look and checked to runs. He looked like a baby Cris CarterJust rewatched the game
Miller made some incredible NFL catches
McClain shut down his side of the field once he played
Rodrick Ward was a major downgrade from Sanders
ST’s remains terrible
Why no McCaskill?
I remember a punt during the game from south to north and our returner clearly had trouble with the sun. I sort of realized that the USC receivers would be looking back into the sun that entire quarter. I’m not clear on how the coin toss works but if you win it can you manipulate which direction you go in the 4th quarter? Obviously a 10 am kickoff is different in that regard than a 1:30 or later kickoff.I was wondering during the game why teams defer so much on the opening kickoff. 99 times out of 100, the team that deferred asks to receive in the second half, which is exactly what would happen if you chose to kick in the first half. This is correct, I was wrong.I thought the two best teams advanced and there were no divisions?
