Congratulations, Coach Tucker

Congrats, coaches.

Seemed like we were kind of vanilla and the lambs were pulling out all the stops but what do I know.

Team punched, got punched back and kept responding. No give up.

This is what I thought too. Very basic shows on both sides. Unfortunately - basic or not - the edges were not contained and the middle was wide open. The secondary was missing coverage assignments, no push up front, and a over all slow feel. That said JVD and Onu came to play. The defense overall started to come together late in the second half, and 4 TOs doesn’t happen for a defense that is a complete wash...we have players.

If the offense also grows as the defense does, then we will be competitive in lots of these games. Sure seemed like the defense was overthinking things and playing slow. If they can get faster and rely on instincts more I think we are not bereft of talent. But the O will have to keep the pedal to the metal until the D can get into a higher gear. Sorely need a pass rush. Can’t let opposing QB’s sit back and eat a lunch while the plays develop that long.

The defense played much better in the 2nd half. But definitely looked like they were over thinking some things. Guys like Landman seemed to be a step late which we know is not normally the case. Hopefully that improves as they become more comfortable. Need to find a way to get more QB pressure as well as contain the edge better.

I was at the game and had an awesome time... but I truly hope the team made a conscious effort to come in to tonight with a vanilla game plan so we can limit the tape that Nebraska and our conference rivals will have. The defense was scary in a bad way. Blown assignments and a total lack of pressure on the QB. Really hope that tightens up or we’re going to have a bad time.

That said, that quote they put up on the screen with MT basically stating that SEC is god and the PAC12 is "Tennis shoe" league was a bad look. Just because you were an assistant coach in an overrated conference doesn't mean you should bad mouth your own team's conference. Goodness I am p***** about that.

Maybe look up the quote and the context before you completely over react to it in every thread. The quote was how SEC coaches recruit against the Pac12 and how he wants to change that.

CSU thought they had a puncher's chance and played with heart. Fontenot gained confidence and was running downhill in the second half. Defense is slow and Landman's tackling form and lack of step was concerning. Secondary played lost but instinctive and that saved us. Grow up, Montez. Olne seemed to gel eventually, d line...****.

Meh. We know for a fact that neither Landman or Taylor is slow. Hopefully they: 1) get faster as they get more comfortable with scheme/gameplan or 2) scheme/gameplan changes to fit their strengths.

You’re either ten years old or a full grown idiot.

Not to pile on HCMM, but my opinion is if he was the coach last night, we would have lost that game.

I was impressed with CSU’s game plan and they actually have some playmakers. They were pumped up and punched us in the mouth a couple times in the first half. MacIntyre teams didn’t respond well to that and would start to tighten up. Mel and the coaches stuck with their plan and kept the team focused and in the end the talent won out.

Random observations -
- Lang had a significant impact and looked like the best DL. Nice to see.
- Montez was the weakest link on offense last night and his decision making was not sharp. Should’ve ended the night with at least two picks. Additionally, his body language sucks after stalled drives.
- LBs are swimming right now. Mel talks about “see ball, hit ball”, we might need more of that for awhile.
- It was refreshing to see Tucker win his first game and not get caught up in the emotion of it. He was focused on making improvements and getting ready for next week. He expected to win.
