Could this football post-season have gone any better?

For a year when CU is not participating, this has gone about as well as I could have hoped.

1. CSU lost.
2. Nebraska lost.
3. Texas lost.
4. Baylor lost.
5. Playoff is a blast.
6. New Year's Day is king again.
7. Pac-12 dominating while SEC faltering. Now a legit conversation on which conference is #1.

Good times.

great day for west coast football fans.

it feels like vindication to an extent. i know we are in a deep hole, but at least we are in a hole in the best conference in college football.

Best division, too. ASU, UA, USC, UCLA and Utah should all be ranked in the final poll.

Great day.

This whole post-season I've been shocked that bowl games actually went the way I wanted them to (Arizona and Minn. were the only two disappointments, which is amazing).

That the SEC and PAC results have validated my world view has been satisfying.

For a moment there, I thought the SEC was FINALLY going to upset a higher ranked team (19 over 18) in a bowl game, but Wiscy prevailed. Close one!

Any word from Carolina Buff this post season?

All of the OP's points were truly satisfying, but I wouldn't draw conclusions from any one bowl game such as TCU, playing with a giant chip on their shoulder, beating a team that was on vacation, enjoying the holidays. That game meant a lot more to one team than the other.

Florida State was giving Oregon all they could handle until they started handing the ball over in the 3Q (a couple of those turnovers were forced perhaps, but several were not). So there's no way even in hindsight that I put TCU in over FSU - given FSU hadn't lost a game in a couple years. But I'm very glad they lost. But the B12 can stop their crying. Baylor (and OU and UT) showed the conference isn't that strong.

Before the games I would have said no one. After today it was evident that fsu was living on borowed time. I would have paid to watch tcu vs the quacks.
Except it would have been pretty hard to leave out the only undefeated P5 team that also just happened to be the defending champs.

The argument for TCU is an argument for 8 teams.

Watching how TCU, Baylor, Mich St, and Miss St played in their bowls, only Miss St looked unworthy of being included.

I hear ya on the fsu turnovers but I will say it looked like there were 15 green jerseys around the loose football everytime

Notre Dame won, which kinda sucks. I would have liked to see UA beat the smurfs. Yesterday was epic, though. Truly epic. Best NYD in years.

ND stunk at the end of the year and beat an SEC west team in a bowl. Approve.

Typically, always root against them though.

1+.......LSU/ND was like choosing between Caligula and Attila the Hun. Good that one of them HAD to lose.

TCU played two teams this year and lost to one of them...tough noogies on them. Next time, play some real teams.

Under the old system we probably would have had a FSU/Bama title game and a Rose Bowl between Oregon and Ohio State

Yup. This year was a thing of beauty. I get regular sales calls from some SEC blowhards every Monday. I can't wait to get back to work.

I was talking to may dad about this very thing. It's been a great bowl season! Thank God the SEC is sucking royally, I live in FL and I am was so sick of the "If it's not SEC it's not football" crap all year.

Not only did Alabama lose, but it lost for the second year in a row in the SEC's "dedicated" bowl game - the Sugar Bowl. And while I have no great affection for Ohio State, the looks on the faces of the Bama fans during that game were priceless.

Which brings up another point - ESPN's coverage of those games was outstanding. Herbstreit and Fowler for the Rose Bowl were terrific. Was it Nessler and Danielson at the Suger Bowl? They were good, too. Not a hint of SEC homerism that I could detect.

Yesterday, in particular, was perfect in every way. Even the stupid "mayhem" commercials were funny. The only thing that would have made them better is if they really WERE auctioning off that stuff. That would have been hilarious.

Went good as can be expected. I didn't think it was a fluke either, Ohio St. looked like the better team to me. That bull**** about them not having SEC size and speed is just inaccurate, they do.

You do have to ask yourself how often we got a true title game in the past few years and how often teams got in based on reputation, media pressure etc.

I saw that each team (Oregon and FSU) received $23.9 million for the game yesterday and I assume the payout will be similar when Oregon plays on 1/12 for the national championship. How much of that ends up flowing to CU?

At least now the debate is whether the 5th team should have gotten a shot at the playoffs instead of a 1 loss Oregon team wishing they could play for the National Championship.

I agree with Buffnik, the bowl games have generally ended the way I wanted. The SEC West is looking way over-rated.

You know, it's funny. Fans have been screaming for a playoff since the 80's. Now, when we finally get one, it's absolutely perfect. It makes you wonder why it took so long.

And yes, I know why it took so long, but man, can you imagine what the last 15 years would have been like if we had a system like this in place? Incredible.

To me, Oregon was clearly the better team across the board.

I feel a little dirty cheering so hard for Oregon.
