The Buffs men are showing unofficially in 2nd at the halfway (4K mark). With even the 5th Buff scorer only showing 9 seconds back while in 40th place, it must still be a relatively tight pack.

The Buffs are still in 2nd at the 6K mark, but looks like BYU and Arkansas have closed in as they are only 8 and 14 points back, respectively.

The 1st race has completed. Unofficially, looks like a NARROW 2nd place finish for the Buff men, with them 1 point ahead of BYU and 3 ahead of Arkansas. (#1 ranked Northern Arizona (NAU) with the expected pretty "easy" victory (64 points ahead of the Buffs with 64 points).)

IF official scoring doesn't change anything, a very nice finish for the team, and should earn them a LOT of Kolas points for NCAA qualifying!

The women's main race has begun per living results.

Note - in the Men's compiled results, Arkansas is now showing 1 point ahead of the Buffs, so CU may (????) have finished 3rd.

The Buff women TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS and justify their #5 national ranking with a pretty "easy" win, unofficially 94 95 points ahead of 2nd place Utah!

And, congrats to Abby Nichols for, again unofficially, getting the (narrow) individual win!

The Men's open race has just begun, with 5 Buffs looking to, among other things, impress the coaches and possibly earn varsity race spots later in the season.

Note - looks like the main men's race results may have gone official, and the Buffs get 2nd by a tie breaker over Arkansas, with both showing at 128 points!

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The fifth-ranked University of Colorado women's cross country team flexed its muscle on Friday morning, winning the NCAA Pre-National Invitational by almost 100 points.

The Buffaloes recorded 54 points in the 6-kilometer garnet race at Apalachee Regional Park and the runner-up, 10th-rated Utah, recorded 149. CU's dominating performance was led by All-American Abby Nichols as she recorded her first cross country win in a CU uniform, crossing the finish line in 19 minutes, 46.4 seconds.

Not to be outdone, the men placed second in the men's garnet 8k race. Top-ranked Northern Arizona won the men's race (64) while the Buffs edged out ninth-ranked Arkansas. Both teams recorded 128 points but the Buffs took won the tiebreaker to place second while the Razorbacks placed third. No. 5 BYU finished fourth with 131 points.

Individually Eduardo 'Lalo' Herrera led the men with a seventh-place performance, crossing in 23:01.4.

"The men's race was a little deeper than the women's," head coach Mark Wetmore said. "We were the highest-ranked team in the women's race so it's not a big surprise that we won. I think we ran a little better than people expected and we beat some other ranked teams by more than was expected."

UP NEXT: The Buffs will start postseason action with the Pac-12 Championships on October 29.
