CU @ Air Force

Thanks for the well said words. I respect that enormously. The few posts referring to 40 years ago got under my skin as I'm an old fart but do remember.

Respectfully this is not about Vietnam. It is about disrespect from one school to another. Many DO remember that game in 1973 in Boulder (I was a freshman at the Academy) when our Superintendent (ie School president, Chancellor, etc) Was hit in the head with a full beer bottle and many cadets hit with bottles, had beer poured on them, and more.

No one holds that against those who attend now and the CU fans who represent their school, but you can't erase memories of a series stopped because of that after 40 years.

Thanks for all that served and truly hope for an enjoyable experience for all tomorrow hopefully with AF the Victor. I hope the weather allow the pregame tailgates and the activities to include the March on, the parachuters to include our mascot The Bird (if winds allow) and the flyby if weather cooperates.

Again, safe travels and get there early.

Okay Boomer.

And there it is…. It’s The Godfather III all over….

“They keep pulling me back in.”
I hate to admit it, but there's a part of me that is getting excited and wants to believe Saturday will be the start of Shrout and the Sanford offense turning things around.

Cry me a river......Here, just for you....
So, in honor of you my liberal friend coming down from the Peoples Republic of Boulder and based on the weather forecast, I guess the B52s will be flying over at high altitude and instead of dropping bombs will be dropping+seeding the clouds to help the climate and global warming by making it rain and cooling Falcon Stadium. And the Buffs will be painted green to honor Being Green?

You do know it is really ok to go into a sporting event and NOT make it a political event as CU did back then and as your statement is doing now. Interesting time as we somberly remember the sad anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday and remember our military has helped that not happen again.

Again, here's to a good game with no injuries. Safe travels and I would offer to buy you a beer but, since I am retired AF you probably wouldn't want it.

Why not spend some of that effort and technology to figure out a way to get people out of your parking area in under 3 hours?

Even if Shrout can lead a semi-competent offense, how will the defense slow down their rushing attack? So maybe we put a few more points on the board than we would have with Lewis, but it's still looking like a double digit win for AF.
You beat a team like them when you force them to throw. This is asking a lot of the offense-but CU needs to come away from their first two possessions with 10 points at least.

Shrout had to start.

This is a great point. It might actually be a game where building a lead and sitting on it might be a viable strategy. Could it be we may see our 1 win of the season tomorrow?!

I'm not doubting the decision to start Shrout, it was the only choice. But we won't be able to dictate terms on defense by forcing them to throw. We'll bend to their will and eventually quit. That's the Karl Dorrell effect.

I don't think they quit with shrout at QB. They will if Dorell Keeps rolling out Lewis.

I’m willing to understand that Shrout will throw some picks this year. We need to accept that as essential to unlocking the stagnation.
Agreed for sure. We need to embrace the potential of failure. It's the overcommitment to mistake-free football that makes us so goddamn boring. You gotta take risks!!

Great question we have all asked and have answered to others before. Exiting the parking lot is fast an easy. Getting off base is not as there is only two gates. Unless someone has the $$s and clout to make a new exit off I25, a new bridge over the train track and a new gate it is physically impossible to change or fix.

The good news is if you stay and tailgate for 1 hour after the game you can a) have more fun with friends and family and b) you miss the traffic.

Hope to see y'all tomorrow.

It was so depressing when the radio guys had to ask Mark Johnson “what it was going to take for the Buffs to pull off the upset over Air Force”

If the Buffs win, it’s likely going to be the biggest upset of the week.

I think we've identified one of the bottle throwers that took down their grand poobah in 73.

??? There are teams who are much bigger dogs than 17.5 points.
