CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

When people are arguing over which ****ty school sucks the least it’s pretty obvious that the administration ****ed up and it’s now officially “try to make the best of a bad situation” time.

This whole situation is loke watching a car wreck in slow motion. We have to wait and see how bad the wreck, if CU just blows a flat or ends up on blocks behind a tumblweed truck stop.

Every CU regents meeting is becoming a news cycle. We’ve got Oregon’s beat writer reaching out to CU. Howell, where you at?

Who do you all think will be our new rival in the big 12? Will it be KSU? Or KU? Or maybe BYU? Baylor???
KU
Neighboring State
Although they already have KSU
Maybe another AFC West concept where we have UT, AZ, KU, CU as a rock solid hate group for so many reasons.

In the modern era, Oklahoma State has had far more success than Washington. Washington averages 6.5 wins/year over the last 20 seasons with two 1 win seasons and a 0-12 season. Oklahoma State averaged 8.5/year and its worst season was 4-7 in Gundy’s first year.

This Washington hype is ridiculous and the B1G has told everybody what they think of them. The same thing the SEC told the country what they about Okie State.

TCU and Utah have almost been identical since entering the P5 ranks, btw.

It’s never a perfect comparison, but suggesting that Wash State and Oregon State are remotely equal to TCU is ignorance at its finest
Fine. Okie Lite and TCU on the same level as Washington, Oregon State with Iowa State, Wazzou with Texas Tech.

After that which school is on the same level as CU? And Oregon? And Cal? And Stanford? And ASU? And Zona?

Cause after TCU Okie Lite I see a lot of crappy uninteresting programs. Equating football wins and losses is not a great metric Because its relative and short lived.

Finally, A lot of us have a list. On that list is ‘would I go to school there if I didnt go to to CU’? People take an interest in other schools and there games when they are on that list. We get excited, we tune in. I think I speak for nearly all of us when I say NONE of the BigXII schools are on our lists.

Theyll put us with KU, KSU, and ISU 🤮^3 in the ”west”

At least we can save by taking the bus instead of a plane

Those that hate the idea of coming back to the B12 I am just not sure what options you think CU has?
1. Go to the B1G os SEC? You have not been invited and it doesn’t look thats is an option in the short term.
2. Stay in the PAC? It’s an option though it will be and always has been a money loser and visibility loser. I saw the posts about SDSU replacing CU (which I dont think they can fill half of what you’d do) and I am wondering are we past the point of talking about how to replace USC and UCLA? No new TV deal and it has been months and months.
3. Go independen? I like CU but while Notre Dame does it and BYU has done it they have/had some built in fanbases.
4. Disband sports? I would not be surprised if Cal does that at some point but never CU.

I went to both KU and UW. UW is a bigger brand than OSU but their national stature has taken lots of hits since the split title season (Miami- we would have murdered them. I was there for that)

im rooting for you to be successful though a few hare sound like Utah fans. Deion will get football going though I think it will be a bumpy road in the short term with high expectactions. If you end up in the B12 I look forward to blowing you out our first meetings in both football and basketball.

Perfect analogy. For some reason people keep cheering for the tumbleweed truck stop with the meth hookers though.
I think it’s the vastly superior annual distribution per school (that we expect to be confirmed any day, week or month now)

Thanks. We dont know that the Pac is done until were told that it is. Or until more teams bolt.

I still see brands in the conference that are appealing and people will tune in and watch. The TV people also need inventory for viewers too. So someone will pay us something for that content. It just might not be what we want and thats the sticking point.

You dont say 😉

On Miami, of the 4 mNCs they won in the 80s and early 90s that Erickson team was weaker then the previous three teams. Don James had a machine by then at UW.

We’re starting the season on Fox Big Noon, Fox Big Noon and ESPN. In the P12. Despite that, we can’t expect any conference outside of B1G or SEC to have great exposure going forward. Just naive to think that given the networks massive investment in both.

No one knows if there’s a deal at all and if ESPN and Fox are involved, even for very limited inventory. If they are, our exposure will be fine. The money, likely comparable despite the panic. So it’s about:

Where do we fit best?
Who gives us the best network matchups?
Who best positions us for the B1G/SEC?

BLOW us out in football
Bring it on,

I hate the idea of having a digital rectal exam at my annual physical but the other option is a possible late stage cancer diagnosis. Bad optuons either way, but one has a worse outcome.

LOL Washington having a Natty is like CU having a Natty. It’s cool for the 35+ year olds to talk about but nobody under the age of 35 really knows about it. Washington’s brand is fine, but it’s nothing special. Same with Oklahoma State. And yes, they have won their conference.
Banners fly forever.

who hurt you? this is a safe space.

I feel like some people on here are delusional. The Pac-12 was having severe issues competing for money against other conferences WITH the L.A. schools (and USC wass THE marquee national brand in the conference). We were becoming a total afterthought WITH those schools (schools with brands high profile enough to be coveted by the BIG10). Without them this is a league that can't compete monetarily, period.

Now I would be enthusiastic about going to the Big12 if it had all the schools in it that were there when we were in the league. I'd love to play the bugs every year. Obviously now it's not exciting at all...except the money will keep CU in the game. "Where there's life there's hope" as my dad used to say. Who knows what offers or changes there may be in the future of college football...but you have to be a desireable program to be in that game...and the Pac12 schools are on a slow (or maybe not so slow) slide to irrelevency due to the finances.

If some TV deal materializes in the next few weeks to prove me wrong...fantasic. Happy to stay. I live in Pac-12 country so that suits me. But we can't fall so far behind in the money stakes that we crater the long-term chances of the program. 21st century college football is a financial arms race and if we can't keep up we will be caught in a spiral that dooms us...both in the short term...and when future reallignment occurs. If Kliavkoff can't deliver $30 million per school I don't see we have much of a choice. It's not a question of what we would prefer.

The disrespect here for Don James is wild. He has arguably the most prolific coaching tree of all time.

To think we had him here under crowder and let him leave is max pain.

and another day and still no one knows ****.

when we start taking advice from schools on the island of misfit toys about how to punch our way out of this, that will be the day my joy ends.

gird your loins and such. at least we have options. hell, it sounds like uw wants the big or nothing and they do not appear to be getting the big invite soon. if we have to serve time in the penal colony of the b12 before our ultimate redemption, so be it. until the ink is dry, i am still going to assume CU wants to be in a conference featuring byu, kjuco st, baylor, and west ****ing Virginia about as much as i do.

We would play in Orlando every 4 years, so if you’re a top FL recruit you should play for us? How does that pitch make sense? Top recruits don’t care about UCF. It would mean nothing.
It’s not a direct selling point, but when you play down there every couple years and UCF comes to Colorado to play and is involved with a conference that Colorado is competing in, it raises the profile/awareness of Colorado in the state.

Same argument for the Pac 12 adding SMU or SDSU, to get into Texas and get BACK into SoCal.
