CU to hire SJSU´s Mike MacIntyre

Cautiously excited and optimistic about this hire, but if he has money and connections in place to hire a good staff, this could turn out great. Just hope the school hasn't been giving the problem lip service, and follows through this time. GO BUFFS!!

Really? Wierd. I guess high scoring is a trend in college football. I guess I saw that they gave up 49 to Utah St., 24 to Texas-San Antonio and 20 to Texas St. and felt like those were a lot of points, especially the last two, to schools I figure are not that strong.
 
Better stock up on the TP buddy because Dykes is going to be having you crying your little teddy bear eyes out.

More prostyle than DeRuyter's spread on offense....lots and lotsa passing though. He managed to get ahold of a legit QB in Fales, which really helped.

Inspiring? With enthusiam, a plan, and being fearless, he's a good get. There's no style points in wins; in losses style points are all you get to look at! Let's compare his loss at Stanford, with JE's Stanford loss in Boulder, shall we ?

He doubled up CSEwe at Ft Fun, what's not to like?
 
What I like is that MacIntyre understands rebuilding and taking a program from the dregs to winning. Unfortunately that describes the CU job right now. He appears to have the energy to do the job and hopefully to not be discouraged by the next couple of bad years. Now if the administration can come through with the support and improvements that have been promised....
 
I'm happy that this is over - not super enthusiastic, but that's more because I think we could have hired McIntyre a week ago and saved ourselves the BJ drama. Oh well - good luck to him.

What I've seen about what he was able to accomplish at San Jose is pretty amazing, and while I am excited about the possibility of what a coach like him can accomplish at a bigger program, the first thing I worry about when talking about moving from a WAC school to CU is the question of recruiting kids who can get into school here. We tend to have higher standards than SJSU, Fresno, Boise, etc. Hopefully he can maneuver that minefield. I love the idea of shaking the hand of every HS coach in the state. I've said this since Skippy - we need to put a fence around this state. Too many kids from CO go every direction but Boulder. Fix the CO situation, continue to recruit CA, TX, and wherever else was can, and we will be moving in the right direction.

Now - staff and facilities!
 
At least he's well connected to Cali. Has to get a plan together for Texas and Colorado. Imagine he has one based on what I've read.

Big thing is the OC. Last two HC hired OCs without prior OC experience. No more giving guys a chance. We need a legit OC in here.

Honestly, I'm not sure how big an issue recruiting here will be for him. He was at Duke before San Jose State.

Seems pretty clear that MacIntyre is a fall back coach, and that the BCS coaches they were after told the Buffs no.

That's not really a surprise, given the status of CU's football program.
 
Looks pretty good considering our circumstances, I suppose. Hard to evaluate without knowing who his OC will be, though, and what kind of offense they run.

There should be some savings on HC salary here. I would really like to see us bring in a big name at offensive coordinator who will run the spread or zone read or something similar.

You're just used to seeing the scores that CU put up, in which case 20 and 24 are very high.

He's got to get a BCS level staff in here, with experienced coordinators. If he doesn't do that, then we should all see red flags everywhere.
 
OK, we have a coach. The guy appears to be well organized and a guy with a plan. Maybe he can get Solich to buy him a big bus/RV and he can take a CU rolling campus to Cal and Texas to put on high school camps.
 
I'm very satisfied with this hire. Keep in mind how horrible we've been for the last several years. We need a turnaround specialist, and that's what we have.
 
Watching SJSU v. CSU on youtobe right now, MacIntyre is the long lost twin of Mike Bohn...it is uncanny.
 
I'll be interested to see if he brings his Strength coach, I know MacIntyre/SJSU really like him
 
Congrat's on the hire!!! I think it is a great pickup for you all. At the end of the day, probably a better fit than, what was his name.... ahhh Butch. He is comfortable in that area recruiting wise and understands clearly what it takes to rebuild. I am heading to Denver next week for work and look forward to hearing about this in person! We will be better. We can say that with some certainty. How much better is the unknown...but this guy is a better true coach than Embree or The Bird...so we should all be pleased that we got an upgrade here. Now let's hope this guy can raise our (legitimate) expectation levels for what's possible.
