Dan Hawkins climbs from the abyss

A few weeks ago, Hawk was doing a high school game, A few weeks later he was on ESPN experts . Tonight he did the Cincy game, As much as I hate him as a coach, he knows football. He hasn't averaged 30 posts a day for the last 5 years like some of you, but he knows what he is talking about. He did manage to get his kid and Scotty into the CU record books.

I celebrated the day Hawkins was fired. I'll celebrate again when he is so forgotten that there is not even a post about him here.

In the words of one of my girls from her favorite movie, "Let it go".

Somebody is going to give him another chance.

He'll need to move fairly quickly. Been out of the college game for 4 years already. If it gets close to a decade, it'll never happen. Outside of a program like Idaho, I don't really see it at the FBS level despite his name occasionally popping up.

I think his only option at this point is a small program like Idaho. But i do think you're correct. He better make a move soon.

I think he could land an FCS job in the NW, but with a decent gig at ESPN, he's probably in no mood to jump at just anything (especially after the Montreal fiasco). Has to be what he thinks is a perfect fit. I think he would jump at Idaho.

I would hope no one would buy his BS anymore. I pity them if they do. Double eagle bear claw to the rescue!

I don't think his ego would let him take a job as an assistant and doubt he would take a HC job at a small school.

I think you are saying that tongue in cheek. Hawkins is an idiot.

He's just biding his time, working on the little things. This deal is gonna pop. We'll see. Blue collar lunch pails and juice boxes for everybody!!!

Sackman really says it all with that post. Just fixing up some little things on his resume. Lol.

Now Cody would make a good HC somewhere someday I bet. He wasn't Kordell or Hagan or johnson, but he did seem to bleed black and gold and the victory over OU was awesome.

i don't know why I didnt realize this sooner, but man wouldnt it have been fun to be a fly on the wall for the production meeting between Hawks crew and the guy who fired him...

He was an incompetent con artist and his kid was an entitled beneficiary of blatant grotesque nepotism. Screw 'em both. Just screw 'em into the ground.

not a fan of Dan. he pushed blame everywhere but in the mirror. that is a quality i can't really admire. he also became utterly untrustworthy when he switched his "tune" from winning football games to "doing things right". pretty transparent.

his first year at CU all access show was psychotic. possibly the weirdest, most uncomfortable TV ever made.

dunno. was on tv in Denver. weird. each show had some kind of pregame or halftime speech video segment....while Dan was going on about quests and fires in a crucible in rambling nonsensical ways.....the players were staring at their shoes or the ceiling. hard to watch.

there wasn't a second season, don't think. or they changed the format from meglomania to normal coaches show genre type.

there was on youtube a post-game presser (possibly after the Toledo game)...in which Dan bragged about not coaching tackling. crazy stuff.
