there is no way hawk would get away with walking off the field in a forfeit because a few bottles hit the field. even if a lot of bottles get thrown, there is too much at stake for him to call off the last game of the season. it just ain't gonna happen.

Since you seem to be inferring a lot in this thread, I will give it a try. I'm assuming Hawkins was talking about fan behavior that was truly BAD. We're not talking a couple bottles. We're talking enough to endanger the players. In that case, it's perfectly acceptable for him to pull his players off the field. In fact, the officials would probably do it for him.

I'm failing to see where Hawkins has committed some egregious sin here.

being as the quote was not from hawk at all, it is entirely plausible that was not the message intended. therefore, it is perhaps premature to rail at hawk and to lob all kinds of suppositions about him into cyberspace?

i would really think the CU spokesman would be able to correctly articulate his colleague's thoughts. after all it is his job.

it seams weird to assume that he is wrong until proven right. but if plati is being overly dramatic about it and the wrong conclusion is being made then i'll apologize to hawk and turn on plati for the slander of the man he is supposed to be speaking for.

visitors that Folsum Field sees. the last time these people came to
Boulder it was the most hostile bed of hatred short of Baghdad.

seen how these people act, and how many of them come into our own
house and act that way. he doesn't know.

The man can't coach his way to a winning season and yet he still
manages to judge everyone else based on what he never saw? to hell
with him. he can take all of his cute sayings and his white flag and
go back to the wac.

safety is not the issue. obviously if someone could get hurt then they shouldn't play. the sin would be forfeiting the game because some fans make poor decisions.

"He'll forfeit the game," Plati said. "He won't stand for that behavior." that doesn't sound like a safety issue. that sounds like he is punishing his team for other's actions. (and again if plati is misrepresenting what was actually said then **** plati with apologizes to hawk. but the cu spokesman ought to get it right.)
 
These tickets don't sell themselves.
It's an empty threat, as the students are back home with their families.
The only bad fans on Friday will be huskers wearing CU gear, which gives them a legitimate right to thow s**t on the field.
I'm sure the BPD's eye in the sky will be watching and yanking. And someone might get evicted from the stadium, too.

You're right. Dan Hawkins doesn't like his players. He is just looking for a reason to punish them. He is just looking for a reason to give a win to NU. He wants all the work he and his team have done this year to go to waste.

but come on. saying that you will forfeit their last game after a season of hard work because of something they didn't do is very disrespectful to the players.

I wouldn't take this too seriously. I can't see Hawk doing that as I think the AD is just trying to send a message to the students that they don't want a repeat of 2 years ago. Pulling the team off the field to our most hated opponent is not a move an AD who is trying to mend fences with it's fanbase can afford.

What, precisely, gave your tattered little mind the idea that this is what Hawk WANTS?? Plati says that Hawk has said he will take his team off the field if the fans act up (see: Clint Hurdle in Arizona. His team did not seem to quit after Hurdle gave them that lesson in being quitters, btw). Plati then comments that Hawkins will forfeit IF HE HAS TO. We don't have a direct quote from Hawk on that, but we will assume it is true that Hawkins would take that step in some extreme circumstances. But you have somehow now concluded from that that Hawkins WANTS to forfeit the game to Nebraska and is merely looking for an excuse to do so. :wow::wow:

At this point, I can only assume that Cody has ****ed your girlfriend. Repeatedly. And in a very uncomfortable place. If you have some irrational hatred of Hawkins, please take it up with him. Enough time and bandwidth has been wasted on it here.

MMMM maybe not.

Entertaining dialogue, riveting banter, scathing criticism....sounds like a pretty good thread to me.

The missing component in this thread is that the evil force that started it is not a huckster like would be expected :wink2:

It's a waste of energy to lambast Hawkins with a thread and then make 26 replys (over 8% of your total threads) defending your position in opposition to the coach.

Energy that could be well spent grinding the corn considering the one day we have left to do that is a day when most of us will be so bloated with turkey, ham and grog that we won't feel like moving. :smile2:
