Darrin Chiaverini relieved of his duties as Offensive Coordinator

I guess I just don’t get why you say this seems like a time where the players story is correct. He obviously got bad info, probably from Chev’s son or someone who didn’t want to break the news prematurely.

I’m not trying to discredit you whatsoever. You’ve been right about pretty much everything from my recollection, I just don’t buy for a second that this decision was made in favor of keeping Chev, only to turn around and fire him 2 days later.
Given the ineptitude of our AD and Head Football Coach, I would not doubt that this decision was last minute. Thankfully the right decision got made.

My understanding from how I read the text was that it was someone who would know. Text read “we just heard Chev’s staying 🙄” I took the we to be the receivers. Very well could have been someone who was not in a position of knowledge though! Good point

Hey, not even Schefter gets every one correct. He tweeted out Condoleeza Rice as a candidate for the Browns back in 2018

She may well have been a “candidate“ but he never said they were gonna hire her, right?

I think Schefter is in bed with just about every agent and what he says is probably right at that moment in time, which doesn’t mean it’ll ultimately happen. I also think he is happy to be a mouthpiece from time to time if he believes it’ll help him down the road.

He was on Pardon My Take and told the story. Basically, whoever he spoke to with the Browns decided to have some fun with him and watch him Tweet out something ridiculous

The equivalent to keeping Chev is coming home from a dinner and movie, your 3yr old twins are crying and the baby sitter has 2 empty wine bottles on the table, a joint burning on the ledge, her boyfriend singing in the shower, and old Pearl Jam music on full blast. Do you keep using this baby sitter?
You must have seen that same video on pornhub also.

That’s certainly possible, I just find it hard to believe that player to player via text, while I was with the player getting the text, would be a story that was completely made up by the receiver. I don’t mind getting this one wrong one bit, I’m thrilled. But this seems like a time where the players story is correct. We will never know if it actually happened though.
Doesn't jibe at all with what Adam said today. Name I'm interested in depending on what happens with Sonny Dykes is SMU OC Garrett Riley. He's 32, and his big brother is now the head coach at USC. SMU was 7-0 at one point this year-and they scored 30 or more points 10 times.

The TCU buddies of mine think Dykes is bringing Riley with him because Rhett Lashlee will want to call his own plays-but that Dykes potentially screwing them over for OU can't be ruled out. He talked to them before today per the Fort Worth Star Telegram.

Once defenses figured out how to stop Viska, Chev ran out of ideas.
I think this is both true and explains much of our struggles this year. The “Chev Offense” has a huge systemic flaw: stack the box and play man-up press, and Chev has no answers, just pound the middle and hope for a hole to randomly open, which it rarely will.

Under Chev, our mid-range passing game was the most deficient scheme I’ve seen in all my years watching football. No one was open constantly.

I’m SOOO ready for a new OC who understands the details and has some creativity, puts the defense on their heels.

Is there ever a lot of talk about transferring in the locker room? Do teammates know someone is planning on transferring or do they usually learn when everyone else does?

Depends on how close you are with those players. Similar to leaving a job I’m sure, you generally tell the people you trust so it’ll stay low. But if you just ask guys will normally vaguely hint at their answer. And yes, there is. Unless some people get fired

From a recent experience - it happens, but it depends on the player. Some show outward signs as the season goes on, so everybody (including the coaches) have a pretty good sense it's coming. Others are on a slow boil, but still everybody has a sense that something is off. Football teams are like every other social group. A player may do their best to keep their thoughts low key, but once any hint gets out word spreads like wildfire.

As I said in a previous post, the staff should be lining up 1to1 player meetings this week and those who they think may be on their way out will be the first invited in to talk.

My Christmas wish is an OC that has a scheme and experience calling plays. Would love the scheme to be fluid between run or spread depending on opponent. Has a list of contacts for WR, OL and RB coaches.

It’s not about the X’s and O’s. It’s all about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s. Right?

(I have no idea what I am talking about, but...) David Cutcliffe comes in as OC, KD steps away from football to paint model trains, Payton takes over HC reins and Arch Manning commits to the Buffs.

Read that AMA...I think CU fans feel the same about HCKD being more of an interim coach. The OC hire is going to be big but CU is going to fumble that hire.

Biggest surprise for me from that AMA was the bit about how the food was so terrible.

I went to the Duke-Miami game on Saturday.

First of all, Cutcliffe looks like he's ready to keel over.

Secondly, Cutcliffe is being run off at Duke (DUKE!) for not being successful enough

Thirdly, Cutcliffe coming in as OC is one step closer to DC MM. No thank you.
