I doubt Mac makes any changes because if he did Buffs would have a new ST coach this year.

You don't fire a staff member after year 1 unless you have Cal level bad issues, which we didn't. In fact, the special teams improved as the year went on last season. MacIntyre isn't dumb and if we don't see a big improvement from the D in the last 5 games I don't see MacIntyre keeping Baer.

Because firing someone after one year is exactly the same as firing someone after two years, there are no differences at all.

My only issue, is Mac keeps banging the "we are the youngest D in FBS" drum. While it is probably true, I see this as justification for when he leaves the D staff alone for another year. Hope I am wrong.

I think the more damning reason Baer may need to go isn't because of his DC shortcomings, but the porous play of the LB unit. You'd think your defense guru would coach his breakout team to a high level. LB play had been atrocious.

I haven't lit my torch yet, I want to see how the team does down the stretch. Season end will be here soon enough.

I was responding to the stats in the original post, which aren't too bad. But yes, the stats in post #7 are atrocious.
