Do we fire Mac?

ok, please.

take a step back and use your heads.

the CUAD just burned a bunch of political capital to get the mm extension through in the face of opposition. and, it just squeaked through. so, now, a half a year later, you want to go back to the regents and tell them you want to pay mm to leave? and then you want to hire a guy who undoubtedly is going to command even more money?

****. this would be hard to get through at an sec school, let alone at CU. not.going.to.happen.
Couldn't be said better

No! He's either leaving or not. I really doubt he'll tank next year if he stays. Less likely people would hire him for sure. No don't fire him, I remember the state of the program since 2006. Anyone else?!

If he leaves **** him, we'll get a better coach

I'm no slider, who is an idiot, but this team is putting out a pathetic effort and we better hope it's for an understandable reason like the coach being gone.

That's on the players! EFFORT IS ON THE PLAYERS NOT THE COACHES. The leaders on the team, and each and every individual is responsible to getting themselves ready mentally before the game

I noticed twitter chatter from Ole Miss people on Thursday night about MM taking over there. Will Petersen from 950 is now talking about it......there's something to this.

George could have sent Mac packing and hired Leavitt. Instead he chose to double down so we are stuck with this bs for a few more years.

So maybe we dont fire MM because it apparently cost $12m (scroll up to Duff's post). Do we shake up the staff? Clean it out completely?

I see a lot of defenders trying to arm tackle and not wrapping up their target.

They are so focused on getting the strip they aren't trying to tackle at all.

Step back from the ledge, folks.

One of two things will happen.

Either...

1) MacIntyre leaves for a new opportunity

Or...

2) MacIntyre enters a Brian Kelly offseason with a lot of changes mandated to try to fix the issues we saw this season

As @Liver laid out, this is not a situation where you fire a coach. Can you imagine the noise from the Regents who got out-voted on the contract extension if they were asked to approve a $12M buyout 6 months later and then approve a bigger contract for a new coach? There won't be a single step taken down that path and there shouldn't be.

What's his buyout next year?
He makes $3.05M per year on a 5 year contract. There are now 4 years left on it. The contract is guaranteed.

The other side of that, I believe, is that the buyout from MacIntyre to CU if he leaves for another job is equal to one year's salary. He's pretty inexpensive, relatively speaking, for an Ole Miss to poach if they choose to do so.

Pony up and give him a big contract and tell him he's the head coach, not head coach in waiting, the head coach. Make sure that everyone knows MacIntyre is now just the figurehead, due to not wanting to pay his buyout. Either cause MacIntyre to resign in embarrassment or keep him on so that the money we owe him is spread out over a multi-year period rather than paid out in a lump sum which would hurt the current budget

There's probably something in his contract that mentions something about being THE HEAD COACH

I think most people realize firing him at this point isn't really an option. But if someone else wanted to take him off our hands, that'd be an entirely different situation

This is where we are and I agree, unless he makes a move to go somewhere else, we will work thru another make or break year for a head coach. Nik is correct here. We need someone to buy him out steal him or we get a real difficult year next year.

Agreed...but man it feels good to rail against him after that showing.
