ESPN suggests that Nebraska will be favored to start the season 3-0

And this is what we are getting via Twitter during spring ball for the Huskers:

QB competition will last through fall camp for sure. UCF's QB did start as a freshman in 2016 but his stats would show you that he needed one season in that offense before making the jump.

O'Brien is a protype Riley QB so I think he's transferring out.

Dinardo recently took in a Nebraska practice. FWIW, he nailed Nebraska being disappointing the last two years, which of course upset all their fans.

Sounds like the main positive is that the practices are organized, which was his biggest complaint about Riley’s staff. He basically says that they don’t have enough yet - enough talent for the system, enough depth, enough difference makers, etc.

Much of it vibes with practice reports I’ve read. No one really standing out at RB yet, the best QB is the UCF transfer who likely won’t be eligible, some good WRs, and decent players in spots in the front 7 on defense. Suspect secondary and the OL is still Riley-soft and having problems staying motivated through camp. And as expected, they absolutely can’t deal with injuries anywhere yet.

And just to be clear - yes, I think we can and should win. It’s a new coaching staff with a lot of dead weight coming off a really bad season. That doesn’t mean I’m overlooking them or thinking we don’t have issues of our own. Or that I think we will win. I believe a loss to Nebraska will say more about how bad we are on the road/how mediocre (or worse) of a season we will have than anything else.

CSU and NU games appear to be getting bigger and growing in importance for CU in general. An 0-2 start would be a major disaster.

Hope you are correct. I am beginning to think, though, that we are never coming back. We are no better than Purdue, Wake Forrest, Oregon St, and other marginal programs. Our ship may have sailed. Sure hope that is not the case.

I wouldn't be so sure he wants out either. Yes the Tumpkin thing was ugly but it isn't like a bunch of better situations are out there and he now has his staff and recruits here.

The more time that passes, the more things can change.

I wonder how he would feel about Dr. Phil leaving (or getting pushed out ) since it seems like he was responsible for throwing MM and RG under the bus.
