I hope Montez leads this team to the Pac 12 championship and ****s on the logo at midfield.
Oh I got your point but apparently you missed the tongue in cheek nature of my comment. And thus you missed the point.
We are talking about being a leader and taking that role is something you earn. That has not happened apparently.
Fascinating
Every example you would offer would be successful leaders who had already earned that stature prior to the self-aggrandizing.Oh I got your point but apparently you missed the tongue in cheek nature of my comment.
But since we’re here. Are you suggesting that successful leadershIp and self-aggrandizing behavior are mutually exclusive? I think there are a lot of examples to the contrary.
The Nike Swoosh actually makes the product more expensive!Buy a bunch of Buff gear this year. Saw the Celtics with the "GE" logo on their unis, Milwalkee with "Harley". Couple of years from now you'll be advertising for Coors or some oil company, when you wear your Buff shirt or hat. I never liked wearing stuff with Nike's swoosh and this will be much worse. Sure cheapens the product in my mind. Do the pro teams really need this extra cash?

What's up with the Montez dislike? I thought he was fine last year. Not a world beater by any means, but did a lot of things right. I'm a fan and I'll also add he has plenty of room to grow (I don't think he was perfect). I think with the year of experience and a full time QB coach he could be in the top third of Pac 12 QBs this season. If he gets the mental aspect down he has the physical tools to be excellent.
Yeah, cause Montez has done so much as a leader and player during his time here to warrant unwavering loyalty from the fanbase...As to the Montez skepticism here, with the fact that he's had zero coaching at CU up
to now, keep in mind that this is the same message board that loves to rip Josh Allen.
And frankly, many of whom were in love with Dan Hawkins for two years too long...Allbuffs is fun and a great place to visit, but I wouldn't put a lot on the talent evaluation here. If Montez had a higher profile in high school
and been able to go to a program with a better coaching staff he'd be quite a bit ahead of where he's at now. Hopefully Roper helps him out. I'm optimistic about that.

We’ve seen flashes of the potential over the last two years and we all hope some different coaching helps take him to the next level, but that doesn’t mean the evaluation of his game by people here is incorrect. He’s been very mediocre for the majority of his playing career at CU.Just talking raw potential/talent.....
Ty Evans has scholarship offers from multiple big time programs and he goes to a 3A high school in Monument, CO. Kids get overlooked all the time but there’s no need to create excuses.Sometimes geography is destiny. Imagine what Montez's recruiting profile and destination would have been in terms of interest and development if he'd have gone to high school in Ohio or Pennsylvania rather than in El Paso.
Again, I'm optimistic that the new coach gets his potential realized. He's not that far off.

BTW, I realize I may have been somewhat harsh on Montez in this thread, but I do not consider my opinion that he has been mediocre to date to be controversial.
I hope he takes the steps forward, but a lot of fans talk about him in glowing terms, which seems premature.
The 300/100 game against Oregon can cause blinders to everything else. Coach Hawkins beating a top 5 OU squad caused the same for me for two years.BTW, I realize I may have been somewhat harsh on Montez in this thread, but I do not consider my opinion that he has been mediocre to date to be controversial.

We really need to utilize him in the run game more and hopefully the coaches realize this and aren’t afraid of him getting banged up with the emergence of lytle and Boyer being familiar with everything.I think Montez is going to have a good season. Junior year can often be the breakthrough season. But, I also hope the coaches are getting the other guys ready. This far into MikeMac’s tenure, we should have more than one QB who is ready to play (and on paper it seems like we might).
I think that would be awesome. While I want to make sure we are getting the ball to our playmaker receivers, it would be huge if we used Montez as a running threat. Tough on defenses if they are trying to plan for Montez running, one of our running backs (which seem like they should be good), the ball getting to any one of our playmaker receivers and, with a little luck, throw in a TE receiving threat. If the o line can just give us enough time, our offense could be very dangerous. We really need to utilize him in the run game more and hopefully the coaches realize this and aren’t afraid of him getting banged up with the emergence of lytle and Boyer being familiar with everything.
I still love MC Hammer. He wasn't the qb, but E.B. was a helluva leader in 89-90. Nobody cared when he flashed Q-dog signs after scoring. But this was a time when MC Hammer was popular, Jim Carey was funny and cell phones were carried in bags. It was a different time.
I still love MC Hammer.
Your regular Dan Hawkins references confuse me. Pretty much everyone was off the bandwagon after CSU in 2009. How is that "two years too long?"
